Just wondering what you all think, will collecting vintage star wars ever die out. I'm presuming most of us are of the same age so what do you think will happen in 30yrs or so time??

Reason I ask is I have a collection of old school bmx's as well, some that have cost a small fortune to complete. Prices at the moment are nuts but what happens in 20-30yrs time when the next generations that wasn't brought up on this stuff are the same age we are now?

I know SW's is a bit different due to new movies etc.... but be interested in what you guys think??

This was talked about a few weeks ago on another thread. I think Disney will keep Star Wars alive. Plus hopefully my kids will get the "bug" from me, although at the moment they are longing to open my small collection of MOCs and can't quite understand the difference between one of those and a 2000 EP1 Darth Maul :)

I don't think Vintage star wars collecting will ever "die"

There is still a large market for Toys of the 1890s!!

At the end of the day they are iconic toys in their own right. All the merchandize made for Modern day films all started after the success of Starwars

Short answer...

No!

There will always be someone wants to collect something of everything, but add the star wars brand and it gets upscaled somewhat!!

What BMXs do you have?? I'm looking to get something modern when i can raise the cash to try racing again after a 28 year break!

Mongoose's mainly mate and Raleigh aero pro which spent fortune on! I hope that neither hobby dies out, I was just interested what you guys thought. :D

I really want a vintage mego star trek figure. Ive only started watching the original star trek series in the past couple of years. I was born in 1990, a fair amount of time since the original series was aired. But I still want a mego trek figure. People will always want stuff from times gone by, especially in the collectables market. Newer films, comics books etc, it always spawns new collectors, and makes people watch the original films or read the comics that spawned merchandise, and as such there will always be desire for that merchandise. I think things will deffinately become scarcer, carded figures and stuff. But there will always be a demand for vintage collectibles.

People will always collect, whether it be toys, antiques, coins, stamps, cars etc.

Star Wars is an iconic name and always will be in our lifetime and probably in future generations. The vintage Star Wars toys of the late 1970's and early 80's will always be in demand, they seem to have a hold for not just our generation but future generations to come. These toys were based on the films at the time they were made, not 15 years or so later like the more modern stuff for ANH, ESB and ROTJ.

I would love a kuhuwara those ones from the ET film, my mate had one i was so jealous i had a raleigh burner.

Oh yeah and star wars collecting will go on and on and on..........

Diamond select do reproductions of all the 1970s Mego figures. I got all of them and the bridge! Identical to the originals with a new stamp. And cheaper!

I'd love a Procraft Karate, that was what i raced on when i was a kid, really good looking bike.

That and a Raleigh Extra Burner which was my first BMX!
