Hi.
After lingering for a while (who doesn't), I have finally joined and hope to get involved as best as possible. My name is Paul, i'm 38 and live in amongst the 'Valleys of Green and Grey', or Yokshire as it's better known.
I have been collecting Star Wars related stuff for about all my life.

I am also an avid Mego collector and basically like just about anything toy wise from the late 70's/ early 80's (SMDM, Lone Ranger, Action Man, MOTU, Corgi TV stuff.....). You would find me hanging about on the MegoMuseum forums as English Paul.

Below is a taster of my pride and joy....

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum, thats a nice collection you have there..do you have any Terrahawks figures :)

Nice collection Paul, your name is pretty cool as well 8) Welcome aboard!

Hi Paul, welcome to the forum. Am also impressed by your collection and your chosen alias. Have fun and stick around!

Jay. I'm based in Bingley.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

As an update, my collections of figures is pretty much all original. The VC Jawa is a repro - I just don't have the cash or the confidence to buy one.
I think I am slowly down to needing about 3 weapons upgrades thanks to unscrupulous sellers passing repro off as original. The Jawas Armoury really helped to enlighten me. The worst thing is that these weren't just ebay purchases either - some were dealers face to face at toy fairs.

I suppose at some point I will ask the inevitable "is this blaster repro?" question. I just wouldn't be a newbie without doing so

And one last thing for now - what's the policy on discussing current auctions on ebay? - RS have a keep quiet policy on any live auction and wondered what the policy is here. I don't want to upset anybody if I post up about something. (PS and knowing how the Mego collectors are, i would never 'out' a hidden auction 8) )

Paul there is no real rule and most of us collect completely different things to actually create any competition (plus this forum is smaller in numbers) but glad you asked.

To be honest I am in two minds about it all I don't really see why anyone would post normal auction links unless to pass on a good deal or to discuss the item, which you can also do once its been sold, I would be pissed if I missed something due to an auction being outed but I guess that's life, whoever is looking will find it one way or the other.

The only time I ever post auctions is if the price is amazingly stupid, the auction is funny or its some kind of rare proto BIN or something, I don't really feel the need to post that many ebay listings just because its a cool item or an item that could go sky high, I tend to sit back and watch it.

Joe. Thanks. If it says Star Wars in the title it's hardly been outed is it? I think really I was just checking because I might want to check on what other members thought about an item - original, recard, fake etc, without the fear of a slapping for outing something good :)

Welcome Paul, I also like your name. :)

You have a great looking collection.

When you mentioned Bingley I thought it sounded familiar. I lived in Menston for a little while, but were talking over a decade ago now. I don't think I ever made it to Bingley, but might have seen signs for it on trips to Bradford or Keighley.

Anyway welcome to the boards. I'm sure you'll fit right on in. Just don't out any POTF coins or Luke Jedi items and you'll be fine with me. ;)

I shouldn't think anyone would say anything to you if you were worried about recards or fakes, and if you mention that you are interested in the first place when linking an item I am sure the guys here are genuine enough to offer advice and not give you any competition :)

As Joe said we all collect different things. Once you get to know people you will realize we try and help each other a lot on SWF, i.e passing on leads for people WTB items, or if i know a focus collectors really wants to win a specific MOC on eBay and its more important to them then i wont bid etc etc

The easiest way to avoid any problems is to save the auction picture(s) to your P.C upload them to imageshack, photobucket or similar and a add the image code to your post. That way the eBay auction isn't outed and the picture will remain long after any auction links would. EBay auctions disappear 3 months after they have ended so the above process is much better for thread prosperity 8)

Hi Paul
Do you collect carded mego's ?
