Hello,

My name is Johan, 22 years old and I live in Sweden. I collect both modern and vintage, carded and loose. Also into statues and such. Huge Star Wars fan(obviously). OT is closest to the heart but I like the prequels too, even if certain things is horrible. Also a fan of EU.

I have been checking in here some time to time . It seems like such a nice community and I am happy I finally decided to register (I think my girlfriend is very happy about that too, lol)!

Hi, newbie here. I'm Paul and I'm old enough to know better!
Rediscovered my love for all things vintage over the last couple of years although the wife and bank balance don't share the love at all.

My main focus is getting a complete set of loose figures that are display worthy and I'm sure here is the place to help me do that. Then I'll move on to vehicles and play sets. Have a lot of MOC and MISB Ep 1 stuff that I'm trying to get rid of but no one seems to want it!

Anyway glad to finally join up and may I say well done on a cracking podcast too.

Hello there,

Thought I'd say hello before posting anywhere. I'm Adam, occasional Vintage enthusiast (when money permits), with a particular interest in restoring figures. I like to touch up older figures with Humbrol paints and have recarded several for display purposes (although they are in the loft lol).

I'm also a member of the 501st Legion, so over the years spent less on toys and more on becoming one.

If anyone out there could point me in the direction of favourable recard w/blisters it would be appreciated.

Cheers
Adam

Hi Adam

Welcome. The touch up of figures and recards is very much much frowned upon on here however.

Hi, thanks for pointing that out.

I've read a few threads on the subject since posting in this one and did get that impression. I guess it's each to their own. I personally enjoy making my beaten up old figures look fresh with a lick of paint as I have no interest in collecting MOC figures for several reasons (mainly finance and other interests). To me they're toys that remind me of being 5 years old. Nothing more.

I assumed this site (before fully exploring) was about all aspects of collecting Star Wars, restoration being included. Can I ask if the opinion is exclusive to this forum or vintage collecting in general?

In the costuming world recasting someone else's creations (armour) is frowned up and rightly so as it's stealing from the individual who has dedicated hours to creating something. I guess if there are rogues out there selling recarded figures as originals it may push prices of genuine ones up. Is that why?

Anyway thanks for the heads up, it's useful to know restoring is not featured here.

Cheers
Adam

Hi
I'm Dan (as if you couldn't guess from my screen name), I've only just started to dabble in the ST vintage collection world having been an avoid comic collector for years. Just looking to get a nice range of all my favourite characters as cheaply as possible (condition has never been a massive concern in my collecting life). So if anybody out there wants to sell some cheap core characters, track me down and take my money!
Thanks

Hi there,

Another newbie, I'm Jon and I'm currently experiencing my second childhood.

Renewed my passion for vintage Star Wars a couple of years ago, after clearing out the parents loft and sorting my collection of figures, Star Wars Weeklies, Fan Club items etc.

The spare room is currently being turned into a vintage Star Wars/Action Man grotto, much to the wifes disdain. Her catchphrases currently include the withering "How old are you?" and the ever popular "You sad twat!".

My current target is to finally complete my loose figure collection (just the elusive R2 Pop-Up Sabre to go and a few upgrades) and completing the UK Marvel comic run.

I've got a number of ROTJ MOCs, but would love to own a few Palitoy 12 backs. Unfortunately, that looks like it will have to stay a dream, judging by the recent prices.

All the best.

Welcome Jon.

Would love to see your Marvel Comics run. Forum member Palitoy78 has almost completed his run - http://www.starwarsforum.co.uk/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=20223
