Hi all.
Lloydie here, i'm 35 yrs old, lived here in rural West Wales all my life and involved in beef farming.
Being born in '78 i was quite late in knowing about the SW toys and movies. It was only when i saw other kids (in parka coats of course!) in my primary school in late '83/84 bringing their own SW toys to school that i came to know about anything to do with SW. I remember an AT-AT, X-wings, B-wings and nearly every mini rig you can think of being brought to school to be played with, not forgetting the figures too. When your'e 5 yrs old going on 6 the AT-AT was a massive and impressive toy!! Who remembers that childs tv show on BBC "crackerjack"? I remember vividly being hellish jealous
when a child won a load of toys at the end of that show which included a boxed AT-AT!! Also, anyone remembers on the news back then about Ronald Regan wanting to establish "star wars" or something in space against the soviets? Well i didn't know that at the time but i thought it was actually something to do with the toys and movies!
My first SW toy i ever had was a Luke jedi figure and i remember playing with it for hours outside my grandparents' house and looking at the back of the 77 cardback thinking which figure i wanted next, 2-1B was always the one i wanted but never came round to buying. Remember having a Han Hoth once which our dog chewed his legs off! Unlike some of my mates i was never a spoilt kid, biggest vehicle i had was a speeder bike along with a Leia Hoth and a Lando Bespin one xmas.
Remember being ultra excited before one xmas when ITV was advertising their xmas movies schedules (maybe 1984?) with Star wars on boxing day i think. There i was with a 77 cardback during the film spotting the figures when the characters appeared in the movie!
Gradually as the mid 80's passed most of us in school started buying He-man stuff, Transformers was too expensive so i bought a load of Go-Bots figures! Later on M.A.S.K appeared. Interest in SW figures came back in about xmas 88 when i was given a carded Rotj Ree-Yees as a xmas present. I went to every bloody toy shop in Aberystwyth in early 89 but couldn't find any SW toys for sale
.Last time i ever saw a SW figure for sale or whatever was at a our local travelling fair in late 1990 - a carded 77 back Gamorrean guard was a prize in some poxy "throw darts to win" stall. I regret not having a go at that stall but i was 12 back then and buying toys was long finished by then.
Roll on 2001 and i began to scour the net for vintage figures and vehicles i wanted when i was little, discovered ebay and between 2001 and 2003 i went on a mini buying binge. Boxed b-wing, palitoy snowspeeder, slave 1, AT-ST, MISB INT-4 and loads of loose figures came my way. Bought a C9 MOC luke jedi, MOC C8 Han carbonite and C6 MOC Rotj Power droid from Brianstoys in 2003 (don't mention the fackin customs bill :evil: i had!!
Golf is another interest i've got and 2 weeks ago i wanted to buy this GPS golf watch thing. Finances are tight so i had an idea of getting out from the attic and selling my lovely (now yellowed, grr) MOC Han POTF Carbonite to raise finances but fook that, decided against the watch for now so i'm back after a 10 year hiatus looking for more vintage stuff. Anyone got a nice carded Biker scout for sale?!!

Great story about your childhood, a lot of it sounds like my childhood. I am from 79 and I learned about star wars in the kindergarten :lol: I think I got my first figure in 84 and the last one in 87. I had a lot of figures but my biggest vehicle was also the speeder bike. Until my big brother gave me his Y-Wing in 89 :lol:

I'm Shaun. I'm 37 and live in Buckinghamshire
I was born in 1976 and I have two older brothers who were into Star Wars toys in a big way. I guess I've never really known life without Star Wars in it actually, and certainly always had the toy line in my life. I bet I probably used to drive my brothers crazy as a toddler smashing the living **** out of their toys! Apparently when I was teething I ate all the rubber hands off their Action Man collection too!!! Oops!
Every Star Wars toy they had got passed on to me when they grew up (my oldest brother is 10 years older than me, so quite an age gap!) and I played with it all for many years until finally it got boxed up and put in the loft when I was becoming a spotty teenager. For some reason girls became my main focus at this time....! In my collection now I still have, as well as a handful of figures, The Millennium Falcon, Rebel Transporter and Slave 1 from my childhood.
I'd also built up quite an Action Force collection by this time and throughout my teenage years I would often sneak up into the loft to pop open the boxes and plastic tubs to have a quick look at the wonderful figures and vehicles! Looking back I guess I wanted to be a collector back then, but was trying to be so cool in front of my mates and any ladies watching!! Ha! What a knob!
Fast forward in time through leaving school with crappy qualifications, a failed attempt at going to college and ending up working in a cake factory stacking boxes before I finally wised up and got my brain into getting on in life. I re-sat exams, got A levels and went on to University in 1997. This coincided with the cinema releases of the Star Wars Special Editions and I was hanging around with friends who were also big Star Wars fans. We stumbled across an arcade in Wolverhampton (I think it was in the basement of the Mander Centre..?) which had stalls selling second hand items. One bloke had a glass cabinet with Star Wars toys in it. I was hooked! I'd go there every time I had some spare money and pick up loose figures from him. This was also where I got my boxed Return of the Jedi Scout Walker from. We also used to jump on the train down to Birmingham and go to a collector's shop right near New Street Station and the rag market.
In 2000 I left uni and moved to London to seek my fortune! I'm still looking for it.. Collecting fell off the radar for a while but around 2002 / 2003 I discovered eBay proper. My missus was using eBay on a regular basis, but I suppose I just wasn't thinking about action figures so didn't make the connection that it was a tool that I could use for collecting. I kicked off winning Action Force auctions (as this is still my other great passion) and spent the next 10 years picking up figures and vehicles at a slow and steady pace. I've also been extremely fortunate enough to have stumbled some amazing car boot bargains. I got my Imperial Shuttle for £8 at Denham Car Boot sale about three years ago!
I also dabble in modern Star Wars in the form of Jedi Knights and Sith figures that take my fancy. Perhaps the odd Bounty Hunter or other character, but mostly anyone who wields a lightsaber seems to catch my eye and make it into the collection.
Anyway, enough ramblings from me. Good to meet you all (I recognise a few collection pics on here from guys I know from Blood for the Baron forum with my Action Force collecting hat on) so nice to see you here chaps Is there anyone left on the planet who doesn't know Dave Tree? The man is like Coca Cola or McDonald's for Christ's sake!

I've just discovered this new fandangled internet thingy, fascinating.
I've decided to come on line and thank Richard for all of his hard work as my special Elf this year, coordinating all of your lists and addresses etc. Thank you Richard, you are a stand up guy and the best Elf in the galaxy.
I have posted another message in the Secret Santa thread with regards to passing on addition messages, thanks or instructions to your opposite number. Lets keep the special Christmas spirit alive!

im selling most of the collection as i need the space and im keeping a few things sending them to afa and the rest is being sold over the cource of the next few years
or sooner depending on how long it takes to find buyers, i love the star wars toys so i dont mind hanging on to them for a bit longer if i cant find any buyers lol

i dont use paypal which could make things awkward for this site but im hopping some feedback about the sales i make will build up trust with the forum,
i'm so tempted looking through the sold and want to buy section to start collecting again lol
but i've had my fun and want to sell it back to the community, hoping i have something that someone really needs to complete a set or keep fill a hole towards a full set
