It's an honour and I hope not to be the last one!
Yeah... As you can guess the language is an important barrier for some of us, but there are some others Spanish collectors on forums like RS or TIG.

Thanks for the welcome, guys.

Glad to have you here, I hope you will like this forum a lot

hi all,

i'm Graeme from west of England (Wiltshire), and have just restarted collecting after a break of 10yrs or so.
I came to the forum after I bid (and so lucky not to win on ebay) a moc 1977 stormtrooper that just before end of auction was found to be fake, the figure was real the weapon, card and blister faked.
a lucky escape

I am now just after loose early original trilogy figures (condition not that important) that I hope after a bit of work will go onto recreated dioramas that I have yet to build over the winter.

so i'm still looking for original trilogy figures........

hi all,

Graeme here from Wiltshire, just started collecting after a decade or so away from the scene.
I am currently collecting loose figures to build dioramas over the winter, mainly from the original trilogy.

after a few near misses on ebay (luckily I didn't win) concerning fakes and recards, I just want to collect original old figures where condition is not too important.
I have a lot of free time over winter, so am on the look out for decent cheap loose figures.

no doubt I will be scouring the for sale posts.........

Hey Graeme, welcome to the forum. 8)

Because of spam posters visiting us regularly we have imposed the rule that every first post needs to be mod approved. Sorry if that made you double post. Couldn't decide which of your introductions I was going to delete so I'll let them both stand. :)

My advice to you is to collect what you really want. There's a lot of friendly guys on this forum that can help you with whatever you choose, I'm sure. :)

thanks for the welcome guys :)

wasn't sure on the first post why it never posted........... now I know

Hi all,

My names Ben and I'm in sussex. I used to collect vintage Star Wars approx 16 years ago. I went through a stage of selling and trading lots of odds and ends and then collecting modern carded figures. I stopped all together about ten years ago, put everything into boxes and then forgot about it all.

I have recently dug everything out, and a combination of having to clear out stuff and CE2 has prompted me to start again. I have now diluted my collection down to just the vintage stuff, a small collection of around 20 or so carded figures. Nothing to set the hobby on fire, mostly trilogo and jedi stuff, But i have a couple of 12 and 21 backs. I'm hoping to start expanding this over the next few years. Nothing exceptional, just nice to look at carded vintage figures. I also would like to get a complete collection of loose figures to display, so will be starting that project in the near future.

I happened upon the forum by chance. Having been completely out of the hobby for a good while I have found it has moved on loads since I last had any vintage dealings. Afa is all new to me, along with coo variations, and I am also gobsmaked by the amount of counterfeiting/reproduction that seems to be going on. Hopefully being a member of such a community will help me avoid any potential pitfalls.

Cheers

Welcome aboard Ben

Your right on the repro stuff, and right again on this forum being a safe haven for collecting, some fantastic guys on here full of advice, and will def help you out on your quest

Hi all.. Following the help I got looking for a Boba Fett, it was suggested that I introduce myself and my toys.. So here I am

Name: Jon
Age: 43 (Every time I type that a bit more of me die as I still feel 18 inside)
Single/Married: Divorced after one of the shortest (And most expensive) marriages in history.. We were only together for a year, before she ran off with a work colleague. Problem was, it was my work colleague too as we all worked together. Awkward.. And then she got a £50,000 pay out for the privilege of being with me.. Yes. FIFTY grand! I think I will leave it there before I go on :) What I should say is that I am with a fantastic girl now and am living the dream. Totally committed, but don't live together (even though we have been together for 9 years).. So we will in separate houses, and only see each other 60% of the time, meaning that I still have all the time I want for my "toys"... Some people think its weird, but it works...
Residence: South Wales.. Originally from Bristol, but the b*tch (See point 2) made me move :)
Occupation: Technical Support Manager
Kids: Nope.. And don't want them either.. People have been telling me for decades that I would grow to want them.. Well at 43, I think its pretty clear that I don't.. Atleast this was one of the advantages of a premature failure to my marriage as we never got that far.. Phew!
Pets: 2 Cats recently departed.. At 22 years old I thought, wouldn't it be nice to have cats.. 20 years later, I discovered that it wasn't! I never ever realised that cats lived that long.. 20 years??? What was I thinking?

How did I end up here.. Well, I have never really been a collector.. I like 'nice' things, but other than collecting badges as a kid, I never got into it..

I have a games room.. Straight after the divorce, I thought "I'll show you" and out of respect for her, kicked the wall down between 2 rooms.. My original plan was to buy a pool table, but it was too small, so I ended up with a bunch of 'arcade' machines.. It was great for a few months, but I only had a small TV, it wasn't that comfortable and it was a bit claustrophobic, and eventually I started to use my living room again as it just made more sense.

A few years back, Wickes were clearing out their Air Con units and I managed to pick one up for next to nothing.. My plan was to put it downstairs in the living room, but my other felt it would "look stupid" and we decided to put it in the games room instead.. It was soon clear that putting it in the living room would have made PERFECT sence, but due to the fact she hates the cold, I am convinced used the "it will look stupid" card to make me put it elsewhere. So it ended up in the games room and hardly got used.. This year, with the awesome summer, there wasn't a day where I didn't wish I had followed my gut and put it in the living room.. So I had an idea.. Move the living room to the games room...

I sold a machine.. Bought a big telly.. And moved in.. And.. You couldn't make this up (And I am getting to the point I promise).. I got the TV.. Took it out of the box.. Put it on the shelf.. And it was hot, so i had the chiller running.. I took a step back to admire my work.. And then I heard dripping.. I looked everywhere and finally found the cause.. The Air Con was POURING water, right down the back of my brand new, used for 10 mins, 50" TV!

To cut a long story short, the cause was that some insects had decided to nest in the drain tube causing it to block and overflow.. And luckily no damage was done to the TV.

So I installed a shelf... Under the chiller to be sure that IF it happened again, it wouldn't rain on the TV.. But then it looked like an empty shelf under my chiller, rather than a shelf I had put up to show of my goodies.. So I went on a spending spree and decided to buy a few bits and pieces.. And one thing lead to another and I ended up with:

- A StormTropper Helmet (I believe its 501st compliant)
- A Master Replica Darth Vader Light Sabre (original 2005 version)
- Kotobukiya 1/10th R2D2, C3PO and Darth Vader Statues.. And I have just managed to find the Boba Fett and Storm troopers which will be here later this week.

Anyway, it was suggested you might like to see some photos, since there are a few more StarWars things in the room.. Of which the Pachinko machine makes me very proud.. Prizes to anyone who knows what (or remembers from back in the day) what game I am running on the MAME Cabinet!!

I hope like it and look forwards to any feedback you have...
