Hi all!

Very new to this forum and learning that lurking gets you nowhere :)

I was 11 when POTF2 was unleashed on us and had a fairly complete run of those built up from around 96-99 unopened (thinking they'd be worth something HA!), with a handful of vintage figures and vehicles. Then the Phantom Menace happened and I stopped collecting... Everything went in my parents loft.

Cut to last last year, and my son (with the help of his mum!) bought me a Darth Maul figure for fathers day. They have regretted it ever since....

So over the past six months, I have amassed a large collection of both vintage and modern figures, mainly loose for display (and play purposes - the boy loves Boba Fett!) with my focus now turning to vintage. I have 34 loose vintage figures and would like to finish the full run and compliment with some of my favourite figures MOC, of which I only have 4... but its a start!!

The boy has four of my old POTF2 figures that he plays with and I will eventually give him the whole lot to play with but I'm waiting till A New Hope 3D comes out (hopefully 2014!!)... There's around 50 figures and 10 ships unopened in a few boxes in my parents loft still and I know they'd be glad to see the back of them.

Welcome aboard escapist!

Huge welcome to all the other new members, if it's your first forum you've chosen well!

Great bunch of people on here so sit back have a laugh, insult someone, get insulted and blow some cash

Hi escapist, welcome to the forum. Would love to see pictures of your collection

I shall endeavour to post some in the appropriate forum. Heading to ikea this weekend and following a review of some threads here, I have my eye on a Detolf! At the moment, I only have my modern figures on display (currently a number of shelves arranged in scenes - Endor, Cantina, Jabba's palace etc) so I'm not sure if they would be appropriate for this forum.

But once the vintage stuff is on display I shall post away. I brought down some of my old vintage SW books recently. My son loved the Empire Strikes Back popup book!!

Hi guys!

My name is Olof and I'm a 34 year old collector from Sweden. In 2009 my mom posted pictures on Facebook on some figures she'd found in the basement – my childhood SW toys from the eighties – and since then I've been hooked to this. I'm a member of The Swedish Star Wars collectors forum as well as The Imperial Gunnery (name:Wampa). But this seemed like an interesting and fun place as well so I thought I'd check it out.

I'm all about temporal displays and taking photos of vintage figures. You can see the results on my blog:

http://worldofvintagetoys.blogspot.se

Where I publish (hopefully) cool pictures of vintage figures as well as fun and reliable facts for collectors (please contact me if you find any mistakes or want to add something essential, as a matter of fact any feedback is most welcomed).

That's about it, for now at least.

See you in the threads! :)

A couple of pictures from the blog (if there is picture thread here somewhere please let me know)

Thanks and good luck with Ikea, I do not hope it is a nightmare in Ikea in the UK. In Denmark, it is a nightmare to shop in Ikea :)

Good news! Went this morning and bought 1 Detolf. Have just suffered an injury taking it upstairs to the man cave.... So bloody heavy... I'll start a thread the showcase section soon!

Sorry to hear about the injury and it was heavy  Great news about the showcase thread

That was weird.. Anyway, it's taken me quite a while to get on this forum as the registration wouldn't accept my email for some reason. The FAQ was saying contact a mod but i couldn't as i couldn't register properly. I've already written one introduction and it mysteriously disapeared... But here i am now!

Hello!

I came across this forum whilst searching for Elstree Empire Day 2013 tickets. I've never seen a dedicated vintage Star Wars collecting forum before, so it's kind of like a dream come true for me as there's no subject closer to my heart :D

Like many of you i grew up with the original films and had the toys as a kid (see my profile pic). Incidentally that photo is one of my earliest memories. It was Christmas 1982 and i'd just got my lovely new AT-AT. You can see how pleased i was :P Many different interests came and went but Star Wars has been there all my life. The obsession has died down slightly. I no longer watch the films at least once a week and i don't collect so much if i'm honest. The thing for me these days is the back ground. The story behind the films. Saying that, every now and then something will take my fancy.

Being an avid collector throughout the nineties i managed to fill a small room in my parents house with various bits and bobs. Back then i had an impressive vintage collection but some of this had to go when i moved out. I did keep a lot of the really choice pieces but back when i was selling Ebay had just taken off in a massive way and the market was ridiculous. I must say that collectors these days don't know they are born. I mean compared to back in the day, remember going into toy shops and asking if they had anything left in the store room? Occasionally you got lucky. Now it's fairly easy to build up a decent collection just using Ebay. Not that i'm complaining.

What's left isn't a bad selection. I'll post some photos over the next few days.

I look forward to contributing to this forum

Where has my introduction gone?

Your first post is still showing as 'waiting for approval' to me. How your second post has been approved by someone, but not your first post is a mystery to me.

Weird. Do you mind deleting it? ...the original still pending one that is..

Welcome to the forum! :) and to the other new members hope you all enjoy the banter on here

Yes they are bloody heavy, I went on my own to pick one up from Ikea a few months back, it nearly killed me - in fact it did weaken my fragile left hip, (which I broke in 2003) and caused pain for weeks afterwards, better now thank god, but a warning to me

Chaps - either get it delivered or take a mate with you!!

Welcome xpack1, this is a great forum to be on, looking forward to seeing your collection

I'll get some photos on here. All my stuff is 'displayed' in the attic in a huge cabinet, and in rather a chaotic manner. I take some shots tomorrow.

Loving this forum already :P
