Some vintage figures are classics and considering the limited technology back then great examples of the movie character portrayed into an action figure.

An Example :)

Emperors Royal Guard - what a figure 8) great head sculpt, good weapon, lovely cape and under skirt/cape to hide the plastic body where the slit in the cape makes way for the arm to hold the spear/lance thing. A lot of thought went into the making of this figure..............................................so what the hell went wrong with the leader - The Emperor :!:

I remember when the first wave of ROTJ figures were available, I eagerly anticipated the Emperor, however he was not available straight away and if you wanted him before he was available at retail you had to send off for him.

So what did we get a very poor figure IMO. This figure could have been great, but alas is **** - an old man cast in light grey plastic wearing flares with a walking stick.

Now some of you may argue cost was a factor, but surely he could have been given a black cloak (same material as the ERG or Luke Jedi) with a hood similar to the Jawa, but bigger of course and also a piece of blue zig-zag plastic, which he could hold to resemble a lightning bolt. It would have made for such a better figure all round.

Luke Jedi and ERG were treated to this treatment so why not the Dark lord himself?

Any other figures you would have made improvements to?

Yeah definitely. Especially since they relseased 3 R2s! No excuse.
It bothered me so much I made my own. 8)

Even though i'm not a huge fan of the Bespin guards the black guy would have been better without the daft stance. There are a great many figures that would have benefited with their hands being made to fit weapons better. Try getting a biker scout to hold a gun. Terrible

Luke Poncho is a frustrating figure, the ridiculously stuck on helmet  that was a stupid mistake and ruined the figure.

As for the emperor he is a let down and the whole cape/cloak issue exists with numerous figures. For me Kenobi should have been re-released with a cloth cape, would have added a decent variation to a great figure.

Maideen strikes again! the least they could have done is give the poor duffer a gun, maybe one unique to him, as lets face it, he has **** all going for him, even the actor that played him was dull

But for sure the BBSG need to loose his camp stance.

One of the real dousies for me was the Luke endor though as I have stated before, the molded on helmet just did not suit & for me was a throw it in the bottom of the toy bin figure.

EDIT: Mumbo just beat me to it - glad I am not the only one

Agree Luke poncho should have had a removable helmet and a lightsaber. The prototype drawings for the emperor had a removable cloak.

I think the plastic capes should have been replaced with cloth ones.

Decent cloaks would have been a good idea. Clearly from looking at the Jawa cloak it was possible. A white dress thing on Leia would have looked a bit grubby after 30 odd years though

I go the other way, I much prefer the vinyl cape figures to the cloth caped ones.

Also, I'd try and improve the whole of the ROTJ line as on a whole, compared to the first 2 films lines, the figures suck. I mean, Klaatu skiff guard, Weequay, Nikto, Madine! come on...Shocking!!

Leia and Sandperson are ok with plastic capes IMO. Always though Darth was a bit weird looking in his. Too skinny for such an imposing character. Ben could have done with a hooded cloak. In the new lines Mace Windu has a cool cloak that would look great on OB1. I might steal the kid's and try it :p

I think they could have tried harder with weapons. How many figures use the regular stormtrooper blaster ffs. Luke endor doesnt have a lightsaber.

SW:
Yes, R2-D2 has no third leg. C'mon!
Ben Kenobi has a molded cloak hat hanging down under the vinyl cloak?* C'mon!
The Death Star Droid even is NO Death Star Droid at all, but an RA-7. C'mon!

ESB:
Leia Hoth has fat hips, Carrie did not. C'mon!!
Bespin Luke onesuit is tan, movie outfit looks grey to me. Hu!?
Snowtrooper also has a univisor variant. Why?!

ROTJ:
Most Jabba villains' paintwork do very well, but Barada is colourful like gay parada.

POTF:
A Luke Stormtrooper, no Han Stormtrooper but a Imperial Dignitary? C'mon!?!?

Plus some saga-wide errors like:
Why give Luke farmboy and Bespin a yellow lightsaber,
why give Luke Jedi a blue one?!

... and last but not least: NO TARKIN AT ALL?!?! C'MON!?!?

*How many of you just checked after this post?

I hated the way that Han Hoths fingers broke when you tried to make him hold his gun. I had 2 of them as a kid and it happened to both of them.

Also I hate the way Luke Hoth leans to one side instead of just standing like a regular figure. He is/ was to easy to knock over. Leia Boushh was the same. 8)

leia boush with a cape and thermal denator!

With you on the Stormtrooper head - always thought it was odd to be moulded onto the body - he's too skinny as well, hoth Stormie is more 'filled out' and imposing

Luke battle poncho should have had a removable helmet and a lightsaber instead of a blaster.

Luke x wing in the Hoth rogue jacket with a removable helmet would have been ace !

Better paint on the Bespin Guards, the gold paint is falling off on many of them :(

No tip on the sabers they break.

no vinyl capes, fabric would have been better.

Weird innit? Why did they not just use the Han trench coat figure and mould the carbon thing around that? :? Looks more like a WWF wrestler
