What would you consider the rarest SW toy?

So what do you personally think is the Rarest Star Wars toy? Or, what do you think has a reputation of being rare, bit isn't...

I think the Tri-Logo General Madine has to be up there as one of the rarest... I've only seen maybe 2 for sale since starting collecting.
The two figures I believe have a reputation for being rare, but I personally don't think they are, is Yak face and the VC Jawa.

Rare?

Ha ha! Great photo! Darren has an amazing collection. I do think the TL Madine is still one of the rarer toys out there and also agree that the VCJ and Yak Face are absolutely not rare. At all.

However, I think the truly rare pieces are some of the POCH cards where only one of many figures are known to exist and indeed some Palitoy and probably Meccano cards where only one of a particular MOC are known to exist. Look at the fun recently over Palitoy 30 backs where someone claimed to have sold a few (and unhelpfully didn't take photos) first 12 characters. In that case the items are rumoured to exist but there's no evidence for it. I guess that makes them rarer than the confirmed one-offs?

Seriously?! No wonder I've only ever seen two because greedy bugger has them all

I may be wrong, but is this image not from a meet up and actually a couple of guys figures held together by one of them at a meet-up?

At last count there were 27 Madine's and it's very likely there are 30-40 out there. While you can't call it the rarest SW toy out there it's still incredibly hard to find and obviously the number of Madine's out there dictate exactly how many complete Trilogo sets can be put together so it's always going to be a sought after toy.

There are far rarer figures out there though. Some of the foreign Fett's are insanely rare like the Harbert for example.

Some of the Trilogo variants I've documented over the years are far harder than any Madine or Harbert Fett though. Some are so tough that we can only confirm one example, obviously they just aren't as popular as figures like Fett or the Trilogo Madine though.

Some of the special offer boxed toys are super tough too, as are the Canadian multipacks and some of the 3 packs.

Yes that's right, two of those were Andy Clarke's and one ended up with Darren (who is holding them in the picture). Darren explains more about that in the interview I did with him earlier this year: http://trilogo.info/trilogo-collector-interviews/darren-mcaleese/

The ESB boxed Vader 12" is a tough find when talking outside the 3 3/4 line, along with the Basa Vader and Chewie.

There are plenty 1 of a kind known card variations either as cardback or MOC.

Here's one of mine.

I don't know what the rarest is but I probably wouldn't consider 90% of what hits the open market on here, Ebay, FB etc to be rare as you tend to see multiples of the same items over a few days/weeks/months. Definitely not VC Jawas and Yaks though

Not Andy Clarke's. Different Andy

Also not the only guy who has more than one.

Madine is one of those figures where demand far outstrips supply and a rarity myth has been created surrounding it. This is not the same as being rare in my opinion. Hard to buy is a completely different category.

Same with a lot of other figures. Palitoy 12 back Luke was just the same when I first started collecting. No one cared about Madine back then!

Brain fart, I totally meant Davies. Sorry Andy if you are reading

Perhaps I stand corrected... Madine is starting to sound as common as a Klaatu MOC
I agree about some of those three packs and 12" ESB Vader!

There are a few one off cardback variations so they've got to be rare. However, if you're looking for a sensible rare figure to acquire there are a few French trilogos that are obtainable for a good price if you're patient.
