What was you favorite sci-fi film ever & why?

The Matrix, impressionable as I was when it came out, it literally blew my mind, and set me off reading philosophy, shamanism, religion,
pretty much a lifechanger, still watch it from time to time, and I still enjoy it.

Mission to Mars, I had thoughts about how life started on our planet before I saw it, and this movie basically stole my thoughts... :p

The Abyss, words fail me to describe this film, just excellent.

For me its got to be Blade Runner I watch that movie at least twice a year and everytime I watch it I see something new, it never seems to age either!

1. Bladerunner
2. E.T.
3. Alien
4. Close Encounters
5. Terminator 2
6. Mad Max
7. Predator
8. The Iron Giant
9. Tron
10. The Matrix ( would've been higher if it wasn't for Neenanu Reeves, worst actor ever! )

Honorary mention, Space Balls

Mission to Mars could have been a good film if it wasn't for the obscene amount of product placement, I think I'd had enough when they constructed a DNA strand using M&M's whilst looking at their SONY monitors and wearing their NIKE space boots.

Some great choices guys & right on the money with what your saying about Dune Weaz, so much material there, so no need to put **** in that ain't there - just who do they think they are?, Lucas has not bought the right has he

No love for forbidden planet then?, class for me, bloody loved it.

Here's to many great new si-fi's of the future & not ones like bloddy dark sky's or Ice Pirates :|

barbarella was a great film and love donnie darko but dont knot what you put that under but there are so many
