What was the first SW toy you received/bought as a child?

DinnerSquadron is God? Well that's a turn up for the books. He'll be pleased to hear that

I was busying myself with cut-outs and model making at 7 years old in 1977, but couldn't wait for the new figures to appear. As soon as they did, my cardboard models were ditched (the superficial nature of youth). The memory is somewhat hazy now, but I'm certain my first purchase was R2-D2 followed by C-3PO after I'd saved up enough pocket money. Being drawn in to Youngsters toy shop on Ropergate in the late 70s is still a vivid memory for me... it was literally my home from home.

I got to know Star Wars just after the Special Editions were released and POTF2 showed up in stores. My first item was the force/fx R2-D2, with the magnet that allowed you to move him on his Tatooine base. Before that I had a model kit of an X-Wing, but never realized it was Star Wars until I saw the movies.

Christmas 1978 when I was 7 - I received the Palitoy Death Star, Obi Wan Kenobi, Vader, R2-D2, C3-PO, Leia, Sand People, Chewie, Greedo, Luke X-Wing, Death Star Droid... yeah spoilt kid!! Never did get an original Luke or Han though for some reason...

I have all the figures but sold the Death Star boxed a few years back. Just won one on ebay to replace it though. :D

Doggarts in Peterlee and Josephs in Sunderland were the toy shops which seemed magical back then... happy days
