What is taking Vectis so long to list the next Star Wars auction??

This makes the Vectis sale like the garage sale!!

I guess I haven't been paying much attention to Vectis the past few auctions because they must have had some pretty killer stuff for all of you guys to say this auction is pretty underwhelming. all the Meccano 12 back and square cards alone make this for a pretty interesting auction.

Also interested to see how Marc Walsh's preproduction stuff does....

It's an odd one Ross. We've been spoilt with a lot of mint Palitoy and some nice salesman pieces but generally in smaller volume than this sale. I think the masses of standard loose bulk lots detracts from the nicer pieces hence the underwhelmed view.

The Meccanos are fantastic and rarer than the usual Palitoys, but as many are opened they dont have the instant wow factor.

Marks proofs should also be something special but as they are generally of mini rigs and not sought after characters the wow factor is unfairly dampened. A shame he's selling some as a job lot too.

There are some fantastic pieces but maybe not with mass appeal. I'll be watching his INT 4 cromalin with much interest - I want to know what mine is worth

I have bid in maybe one or two Vectis auctions in the past, but it was a year or two ago. Do they yet have an option to bid directly on their site? Last time I did it, I had to bid through auctionzip.com. Is that still the case?

Hey Ross, you can bid direct once you register a credit card in advance.

marc

Use a debit card to buy , you will give hit with more fees on a credit card !!

True but you're leaving yourself wide open to possible card fraud on the shitty vectis server, debit cards are not as protected as credit cards.

I pay by amex on invaluable. Massive level of protection and the fees are lower than on the vectis site. Airmiles for buying SW is a bonus too.

I think the invaluable fees have just been increased !!! :?

2 to 2.5k would be my guess

Sounds like a reasonable guess and this really is the stand out item for me that I'll never own

Ian

Ian ,

I will be honest , I have owned 4 VCJ , 1 AFA85 and the rest loose and always found them underwhelming !!

I've owned 3 AFA 85 VCJ's and still have 2 UKG 85 and one loose one and have to say that I do love the little buggers

I think I have a fondness for them as I had one as a kid growing up in the 70's so this has always been my prefered Jawa (never kept the backing card though so no real way to know if it was a Palitoy one). I've never owned a carded one but would love a reseal so this Meccano one is right up my street but unfortunately not something I can probably afford to own. I did come close with the Palitoy one on an opened card that came up on Vectis a while ago (part of the set from a competition winner), but was beat to it by a big collector who at least I know will have it in a good home. I'm thinking I'll probably never get any sort of carded example from any country but it's still a nice daydream from time to time.

Ian

I seem to remember seeing a catalogue for the last Vectis auction. It was much easier to navigate than via the website. Does anyone know if they've produced one this time as I'm currently on page 12 of 433 on their site and losing the will to live?!

You should be able to download or print the PDF catalogue, click on the catalogue on the left?

Thanks Wrighty - all other auctions appear to have the option to download it but not the Star Wars one. Very odd.

I think they are really behind since the online stuff only came out on Wednesday I think, check next week and it should be available!!

Is it just me, or have their thumbnail images become even smaller! Can hardly make out some of them

Just had a quick look and the pdf catalogue is still not available, I assume they can't be bothered anymore with the sale in 2 days. :D

I'm already hoping I get out bid on a couple of the things that I've left bids on, no specific reason particularly, but I'm just not feeling it now...

It's that anxiety of winning something you don't 100% want!!

Not impulse or regret, I just think I may have bid on one (or two) things more than I really wanted enough to spend the value on them. Each piece I bid on I still want, each would fit my collection very well actually, maybe though cumulatively not so much, not sure that makes sense...
