Do you prefer the thrill of the hunt or the moment you finally get the kill?

I've been on this fantastic roller coaster for a couple of years now, I've bought, I've sold, coveted, loved, lost and slept around so to speak and can honestly say I've enjoyed every minute.
I sense a change in me though, I've a more settled idea of what I want, I don't think it's a flavour of the month thing (but don't quote me on that) and I think I know why.
There are two items I've wanted for around 18 months and I've watched and waited, let things pass me by and now I have them I am immensely pleased with them.
All this got me thinking I actually like hunting and not quite finding almost as much as nailing something and wondered what it is everyone else likes?
If you had the funds to buy whenever and whatever the cost or would you still hunt out the best deal? Have you got the oh so elusive patience?
Would you actually enjoy picking stuff up as easily as going to the Entertainer?

Definitiely the hunt, and finding a bargain, added to putting together a display. I take enouormous pleasure out of looking at my collection. Certain pieces really do make me happy.

Nothing beats that moment when you buy something you've wanted for ages and at a great price.

It's all about the bargains for me these days.
I'm not a very 'focused' collector, so any pre-1985 Star Wars item I can find for under a tenner is a result for me.
I do love the hunt, but more relieved when I can tick it off the list.

For me it's bagging a bargain.....I've been like that since a kid going to the local market with my nan and haggling prices on stuff.

Used to love a good bootsale doing the same but they're few and far between in South London nowadays.

As you might have seen from the £50 thread i ain't been doing too bad.

Grabbing a bargain, just like most people on here so far is a great feeling and hunting those bargains is a thrill. Im little a giggly little school girl when mail arrives, doesn't matter what item it is
I have let things go, gave up bidding on ebay for them as I was confident I get it cheaper next time or the next time and eventually I have
Also have someone in another country helping you out ( you know who you are and thanks ) makes getting those bargains that little bit easier. Helping someone out and have others help out is also a great reward

There is no better feeling then when you bid on eBay and compensate with a little more in case of any snipers.....then low and behold no one else bids.

Regardless of all the Facebook bullshit and current prices, I'm really enjoying collecting at moment, I used to put myself under immense pressure to track down MOC's for my run. Now I'm a lot more relaxed, I've learned patience the hard way. Now it's definitely the hunt for me....at the right price.

I do enjoy completing a run , however when it's done it's doesn't feel as good as the hunt , however I still get the buzz from buying a cheap beater or a high end moc .

Queuing up patiently and waiting for the toy fair to open doors. Then when I'm in, dashing around like a maniac trying to scope the place out as quickly as possible. My favourite part though is egging on some mates to splurge on a spicy purchase that you know they really want but thry just haven't realised it yet.

Display and arranging is the most enjoyable part for me. Getting a killer piece can of course part of that!

I really don't understand the pleasure of buying (whether for a run or whatever) and then putting it in a storage box. I'd rather have one beautiful displayed shelf of OK/average items than a loft/garage/spare room full of boxes of high value items. I am blessed to have more than a shelf, but I'd always choose a shelf over a room full of boxes.

For me it's partly the hunt and once I get it I move on. But if the hunt is unsuccessful after a while I sort of loose interest and look for other things of interest. I know some pieces may take years to surface but I am happy to wait.

I definitely used to enjoy the hunt more as I would usually sell things on quite quickly, but although I still enjoy buying things I have got more attached to my collection. Recently I was offered a MOC I really wanted in trade for a few of my POTF loose figures, and after getting them out to take some photos I decided that I didn't really want to let them go. 10 years ago I would have done it in a heart beat.
