What did you have as a kid?

Isn't it amazing how times change. Back then you were lucky/considered loaded to have a couple of hundred quids worth of figures that had build up over several years. It was the same with computers, only the 'lucky kids' I knew had a 16 bit console in the early 90s. Now every 10 year old has an iPhone, iPad, laptop, LCD TV, and PS3. It's ridiculous!

Before ROTJ I just had the DV TIE, INT-4 and a handful of figs for a few years - Walrus Man, Vader, Lando, Lobot, Imp Commander and a Stormtrooper, probably a few more I can't remember

When ROTJ came out I remember my nan taking me to Asda to buy my me a speeder bike, and then a 10 year old mate decided he was too old for toys and I bought all his stuff for 50p a figure. He had tons of it and I ended up with most of the SW and ESB figs, a Landspeeder plus a 12" Luke and 3PO

I also rememeber having an R2 model kit, where his panels opened to reveal his extra arms and gadgets - I'd love to make one of those now

Kids today are spoilt. My son has most gadgets and stuff like the 3DS hasn't been played with in about a year. Yes I'm to blame but it's difficult when all his mates have one and its what e wanted for his birthday.

Geez after seeing some of these childhood collections I'm well pissed at my folks!

James you spoilt little **** 8)

Here's what I remember,

Figures:

Luke FB
Chewy
Han Hoth
Boba Fett
Zuckuss
Admiral Ackbar
Nien Numb
Ree-Yees
Weequay
Gamorrean Guard
Biker Scout
Lando Skiff ( the only figure I remember buying myself )

Vehicles:

Speeder Bike
AT-ST

Lotta memories in that lot.

I have that same concern about me!!

I was lucky though as I had a much older brother and sister who were working so Christmas and Birthdays were always good 8)

Edd totally agree with you here. My youngest has more gadgets than I do own. Back in the day I think £££ must have been tighter for all of us, its that or the technology nowadays is just so much cheaper and more readily available. Either way kids of today are spoilt little buggers lol.

Very difficult for me to remember much....... Had an xwing and speeder bike. Figure wise definitely had luke jedi, a lot of Jabba's goons, Rebel commando's, Rancor monster. Had plenty of other figures but just can't remember who and I've only remembered this lot because Jr has recently reminded me. Perhaps if my ex evil step mother hadn't given away all of our figures many years ago I would be able to recollect more :)

Ws talking about this with my mum at lunch time while fixing her email, think the only larger items i had were an MF and a scout walker.

Had (still have) a bunch of figures, will get round to taking som pics some time!!

At the time it always seemed like your friends had more than you (well they did, it didn't just seem like it) but i think like a lot of us here we had a lot more than our parents could really afford!

Kids these days really have it plush, the things my niece and nephew have at times i find disgusting, a 7 year old with a latest generation ipod....REALLY??

9 of the first 12 for me, missing Jawa, Tusken and SDC. Only have Ben Kenobi left now. No playsets or vehicles. Had a shed load of Action Man stuff, (preferred that as a kid).

Had all the main characters and about 3-4 Stormtroopers.
Had most of the Empire figures too and a few Jedi, basically had more than enough to fill Vader's Collectors case(which mum sent off for by collecting figure names off the cards). So prob close to forty figures.

Tbh didn't own any playsets apart from Jabba and only had the AT-AT and Snowspeeder vehicles! Had a couple of mini rigs too, the Tri-pod Laser Cannon and Radar Dish.
However used to get together with my friends who had other bits so had the fond memories of playing with the Falcon, X-Wing, Landspeeder, Taun Taun, Wampa, Dagobah, Vader's Star Destroyer, Slave 1, Rebel Transporter, Speeder Bike etc.

Have great memories of the last day before summer Hols at junior school where we could bring our toys in and play all day!!
