Hey all.

I need to cycle over to my mums tomorrow as my car is broken and off the road so am borrowing the aunts car. Wife is out so thought, I'm trying to get fit anyway, so cycle.

It's nearly 18 miles to my mums so quite a distance. I was wondering if anyone new of a good website or App to plan a route over there rather than just cycle aimlessly and avoid main roads.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Chris

Hi mate not a cyclist, but if you don't get any joy, found this with suggestions might help buddy

Hi Michael.

Thanks for that, i'll have a read in bed I think.

Have also found an App on the iphone called bike hub, basically works like a Sat Nav, shows and speaks the root to you. Just need to get a holder now to go on the bike.

Thanks again Michael

Chris

Good luck Chris!
Getting back on the bike is the best thing I've done, started riding 3 weeks ago and it feels good!
Stopped drinking Coke, and on the verge of quitting smoking as well!
I ride about 6.3 miles every 2 days now, and thank god for that, as I started to look like Homer! :p

Jorn I hear you buddy, none of my trousers fit at the moment and I feel like a blob. Also trying to get fit for potential marathon so doing everything I can. I've cut out most of the sugary and fatty stuff as well, back on the rabbit food or me!!

Tundra....I stopped smoking 11 months ago

Was on 25 roll ups a day....old holborn over 25 years :!:

Tried everything out there....never ever thought I'd do it

Best thing I've ever done...good luck pal :D

Very nice Michael, fighting this habit must be one of the hardest things to do! :p
I stopped smoking in '03, but back on again in '08, and I'm so tired of it now, been smoking 20 a day the last 3 years.
Been trying to ween off with e-cigs, but keep going back to cigarettes, but I'm confident I'm free from the chains before the summer ends!

Hope so pal, I even tried the champix tablets, they worked but gave me nightmares and spaced me out!

Started with a vape thing now only use it now again and just a fruit flavour with no nicotine never have a fag again..go for it bud
I'm now thinking of bike as I've put a bit of timber on :!:

Good luck Jorn

Good luck on the bike Chris

Bit late on this one Chris.

I just use Google maps. Once you have put your journey details in you can swap between car, public transport, cycling and walking. You can look at the difference between the walking and cycling routes to pick out the odd shortcut here and there.

Good luck with the journey mate :D

Give mapmyride a go. Good website lets you plan a route and tells you distance and vertical assent and stuff like that.

Good luck with the bike.

install google earth mate, you can plan routes and it gives you a measurement of distance, plus you can view any possible shortcuts as all maps are ariel view.

18 miles done!!! Arse hurts a bit and legs and shoulders are starting to stiffen up a bit but enjoyed it.

Gonna use the same App to work out some long loops that I can do from home back to my home.

Look out for the new slimmer, trimmer, me in months to come!!!! :D

Mate get yourself some shorts with padding, if Bib shorts aren't your thing get some baggies with the lining, also a Jersey.
Not trying to sell you anything its just it makes your life so much easier and the ride a lot more comfortable

.We use the same factory as Rapha so I know the actual cost and their mark up is a fooking disgrace....

You wouldn't catch me (or any real cyclist) in Rapha...unless they want to give me some :D . Looks nice stuff but is stupidley priced, I'll stick to my Assos Mille shorts.

I do like your Morvelo stuff. How does you chamois compare to the Mille S5?

I've got my eye on the A Bloc shirt and Shorts, they match my S2 :D
