Just an update, the silverfish are not gone yet. Last month I saw one on a plate that I took out on the closet in the kitchen and I killed it. I was glad I did not put my food on it. Then I said damn some survived and they are back  The same day I saw one on the floor in my bedroom and I also killed that one, it came out under my robot vacum cleaner after it had cleaned my bedroom. I used poison again on the floor in all rooms. Next day I found one dead on the floor in the bedroom. Last week I found one in the livingroom dead on the floor and today I found another one dead on the floor in the livingroom. I hope they stay away from my star wars boxes and instructions. I have protected my comics and my moc in sealed plastic boxes but I do not have room enough to do the same with my star wars boxes :(

Oh no! Silverfish have apparently been a big problem for people at my Uni, luckily I've only found one in the bathroom and didn't have any trouble after cleaning everthing but some people have had it really bad. Annoying little things. I hope you can get rid of them for good!

I'm sorry to hear you're still having problems, Lars. I'm sure your efforts will have reduced the silverfish problem considerably (and was / is therefore well worth doing), however removing them all completely might be very difficult, sadly.

If you are unable to put your Star Wars boxes in larger plastic boxes, might you be able to place them in thick transparent plastic bags sealed with cable ties instead? If you added some silica gel packets to each bag before sealing them, you should prevent the risk of mould, and at least it should stop the silverfish from getting at them.

Good luck, and please keep us updated.

thanks mate, I am glad you do not have problems with them

Thanks jeremy, I have them in some big black thick plastic bags like this ones https://www.stadsing.com/shop/plastic-bag-black-70-x-110-cm-45my-100-l-2451 but last year they just bite holes in them  I have seen them bite hole in anything yet this year . But with all the boxes I have it takes time to check them all.

This morning I wake up and saw a silverfish on the wall at the end of my bedroom near the loft, I killed it. That is the 6th this year. The good thing, I guess if there is any goog thing, that I have not seen any small ones so maybe this ones are the last ones that survived from last year. I used some more poison today in the bedroom on the floor against that wall it was the only place in the bedroom that I did not use poison yesterday because I have a shelv there. But I removed the bottom shelv and used poison on the floor there today. I hope that will kill the last ones if there are any left. If they move around on the floor they will now die in the bedroom.

Well, I don't know how thick your black plastic bags are since I haven't seen them myself. However, looking at the link you sent, the bags are on a roll and look to be similar to dustbin bags. The kind of bags I'm referring to are much, much thicker than dustbin bags. I mean something closer in thickness to the bags that AFA graded figures are wrapped in. I believe you can buy that style of bag in lots of different sizes, and whilst I don't know for certain that silverfish could not bite through them, since those bags are considerably thicker and stronger than dustbin bags, it may be worth a try if you're still having problems. And of course, the advantage of them being transparent is that you don't have to open them to inspect the contents. Best of luck.

Hi jeremy, do you have any links for this bags ?

Yesterday after cleaning my shelv, I found a baby silverfish on the top of a plastic box on the top of my shelv, the 7th this year  so now I also have baby silverfish. I really hope this was the last one

damn damn, saturday morning I found a dead silverfish on the floor this is the 8th this year. But so far I have not found them this year in any of my star wars or in any of my other things. I guess the poison killed it. I hope it is the last one but I guess I will not be that lucky.

last night I saw the 9th this year crawling on the wall in my livingroom, a small one was it. Now that one also is dead. I really hope it was the last one.

I read poison spray is not enough to kill them all  some on the internet write that just like rats, silverfish need to eat food with poison in the food so they take the poison back into the nest and kill the nest. On the internet I read Advion Gel is something silver fish can smell and they will move fast to it and eat it. Go back home and kill the rest in the nest and then all should be dead. I will try to see if I can get something like that.

That is truly awful what you're going through. I hope the poison in their food works.
thanks mate for the kind words (y) I have not seen any more since my last post in this thread so think that is good news. I hope they are all dead now. But to be sure I will use poison again later this week. it is 5 weeks now since I used poison and I will try to use it for some time every 5th week. I have read they can live without food for 9 months

Now that you seem to be on top of the problem it might be worth investing in a dehumidifier for your home to reduce the humidity and make it less hospitable for them as they thrive anywhere thats damp. 🤔

It might just stop them returning.👍

thanks, I have never heard about a dehumidifier but this ones must have been from last year or eggs from last year. So I guess I will first know if they are all dead in 12 months. If I have not seen any in 12 months then I think they are gone. I think I saw the last one early november last year and then they were back in may this year, but so far only 10 and not 40 as last year.

I have not seen an alive one since may 26th but this morning I saw one at the kitchen table, it was close to run under a panel so I could not hit it. I took my poison bottle and spray on it and 2 sec. later it was dead, great stuff (y) this was the 11th this year. I really hope it was the last one. Oh and I had to clean the table for poison after that so there will not come poison in my food when I work with food on the table.

the 12 this year, last night alive one walked slowly on the livingroom floor when I was talking in phone  I killed it with a empty dvd box that I was keeping as a spare part :ROFLMAO:

I really hope this was the last one now 🙏

You know what, I'm not even sure that I've ever seen one of these things in my life. We're not talking about woodlice or those things with pincers are we?

Oh wow! No, I've never come across these. They're like the thing that gets sucked out of Neo in The Matrix.

in denmark we now have so many so they warn people about not opening a packet in the home. 25% of all packets from a danish internetshop have eggs from this bastards or this bastards in them. I have read they can live 9 months without eating and they can live for 8 years and lay 200 eggs so one can be to 200 if you do not kill it and 200 can be to 200 x 200. So far I have only seen 12 this year, I spray poison now every 5 week in all rooms, I guess I have to do that up to maybe 1 year after I have seen that last one just to be sure. I think they are in all of europe or maybe in every country all over the world. I have not been opening a packet in my home since last year.

That's crazy. All my life I've heard about these things but never seen one. All I get in our house are spindly, long legged spiders that seem to be everywhere in south Manchester.

that is great I think, some spiders eat silver fish, but I do not remember which ones (y)

Saw 2 very small baby silverfish this morning at the kitchen table, both are dead now, I am glad I saw them before they got bigger and could produce eggs. Now it is 14 this year. I really hope this are the last ones

last night I saw no. 15 this year it was a big one. After i had seen the 2 small ones the night before at the kitchen table, then I said to myself that I would use poison behind my microwave, I moved it and cleaned behind it and used poison on the table behind it before I put it back. A few sec. later I saw the big silver fish in the kitchen wash. I guess it maybe could have come from under or behind the microwave and moved down the wash when I moved it. Now that one is also dead. I really hope this are the last one and if not the poison behind the microwave will kill the last ones since I have used it also on the floor against the wall. So they can't go from the wall and out on the floor without getting killed. So the last 3 ones have not been coming from the wall or floor, that is why I was thinking maybe behind the microwave or under it. I really hope it was the last one now.

oh and no 16 today, a dead one on the floor, a big one. Looks like the poison got that one. I am surprised I have seen 16 so far this year after I thought all was dead last year

this morning a little one in the bedroom on the wall, 17 now this year  I am beginning to reach 50% of what I saw last year so I think I will read more about the Advion Cockroach Gel, I have read before that it should be the best.

Damn, damn I did not see any in august but 1 september I saw one this morning in a kitchen closet next to my oatmeal, but I have it in plastic boxes so it could only look at it ☺️ I killed it, I really hope it was the last one.

yesterday I found a silverfish in an empty plastic bucket for food in one of the kitchen closet and it was alive  now it is not alive anymore. Damn where the **** do they come from. I have not seen any dead on the floor where I have used poison for a long time
