toy and train fair was on at the county showground in stafford last sunday.
200 tables usually only 3or 4 with a few star wars on.
1 guy who had not been there before had loads of vintage, got talking, life long collector blah blah.spoke about when nec first opened picking up star wars mint in boxes for a few pounds.
anyway noticed he had a carded vlix, back of card looked a bit washed out and it was a kenner one.i only thought it came on a glasslite card.
done a bit of research and it appears to be the unproduced kenner card ,
now he swears he's had it for 10 years in loft wanted £300 for it.
he says he will be at nec in september toytrain fair any you guys want to look
but it's got to be a fake!!!!!!!!has'nt it.
the other thing that's bugging me is i can't remember if the coin was there which would be the clincher i suppose

no no no no
this is a picture from the star wars collector's archive of what the guy was offering for sale
re read what i posted

What are the chances? Somewhere between slim and none
If it has no provenance with it or its not graded (looked at by Tom Derby) then its almost certainly a custom.

The card will be fake and why would you attach a real vlix to a fake card? The only known MOC Kenner Vlix (a mock-up as it was never released) must have cost the owner £10k +, even loose ones fetch significantly more than a grand.

I read it the first time, I just thought you were trying to catch us all out again.

Probably scratches on the paint. The Kenner Vlix is really quite fragile as a prototype and the paint does sometimes mark easily. I've also heard of heads coming off

it's getting like the guy who cried wolf to many times.
i hav,nt brought it .i hav,nt made it.the picture is from the starwars collectors archive site .so get in touch with them if you think it's fake or scratched the next text goes with the photo off there site

Unproduced Carded Sample
Here it is, the only carded example of the Kenner Droids Vlix known to exist. A part of the never-released second series of Droids figures, Vlix's notoriety stems primarily from the fact that it was released for a brief time in Brazil, as a part of the Glasslite company's line of Star Wars products. (Click here to see the Brazilian figure.) Therefore, not only does it represent an unproduced American toy, it can rightfully be considered the rarest Star Wars figure to ever be released commercially.
But what you see here is definitely not the Brazilian release. You see, Glasslite released their Droids figures on generic cards, which depicted all of the characters together. They were differentiated soley by the presence of a nameplate sticker. But this carded sample (made using a proof card) features the blister card artwork that was planned to be used for the U.S. release of the figure. It depicts the Vlixster off to the left of the bubble, with his arms crossed and scowling.

As for the figure itself, it's a Dynacast hardcopy, meaning it's freakin' heavy. It's seriously hard to keep this thing contained behind that flimsy plastic bubble. And speaking of the bubble, it's huge-- it takes a lot of space to hold a figure as big as Vlix. It's been hand-applied to the card using the standard Kenner double-sided tape.

Oh yeah, the coin is also included in this package. As far as unproduced Droids figures go, it doesn't get much better than this.

ok....that doesnt prove that the dealer you spoke to has one...like Dave says he knows someone with a wheelie bin full of yak faces

The £300 sounds like a typical scam price from the bloke. He obviously knew it was a fake but he wouldn't have shifted it with a £1000+ asking price or more as he knew more questions would have been asked. At £300 some people might have been tempted to take a chance (with the 10 years in loft story encouraging them). They then get home and look up info on Vlix, find the swca and realise they have bought an expensive fake.

I used to have a Kenner prototype Vlix and when I bought it I knew it was coming from a well known dealer and that the figure was sourced directly from a former Kenner employee. I then had it graded and authenticated by AFA and Tom Derby. You really have to be careful buying stuff like this.

thanks guys.
like i said at the top ,the card looked washed out on the back and £300 would be dirt cheap for it.
i was mearly pointing out what i had seen and that the guy said he would be at the nec toy train fair in september.
any of you going can quiz him .

standard Kenner double-sided tape.
