Unfortunately with a bubble that yellow it will be very brittle.
Unless the bubble is protected (and even then there's no guarantee) the figure may break free during shipping.
Have you spoken to the seller about the importance of how this is packaged for shipping?
I still do this with every purchase no matter who they are!
If you would like a step by step guide on how to package a MOC just let me know.

PS: you can find better Klaatu's for only a bit more than the one pictured.
I haven't spoken to the seller about postage, but it's not too late as they haven't dispatched it yet. How should I tell them to package it?

Ok, this isn't going to plan…I'll post it here.

How to package a MOC.

Cut a stiff piece of card slightly bigger than the MOC and have a roll of cling film to hand.

Tear off a length of cling film approximately two to three times the total circumference of the bubble.
Fold, not roll, this over and over until it is the same length but only 15mm - 20mm wide.
Wrap this snuggly around the bubble with a little bit standing proud of the bubble. If you have cut this as directed it will go around the bubble at least twice…more is better.
Fold down any cling film standing proud on to the bubble face carefully.
Find an elastic band that will now fit over the bubble and cling film, if the elastic band is too loose wrap the bubble with more cling film until if fits, but not too tight.
This will stop the figure movement during posting from damaging the bubble.

Place the piece of stiff card that is slightly larger that the cardback on to cling film that has been pulled out and then add the MOC on to the stiff card.
Wrap the MOC onto the card as many times as you want, I normally do at least 5 times round.
By adding the stiff card backing you will not warp the MOC when wrapping it with the cling film.

Now wrap in bubble wrap and box or double box as you see fit.

When choosing a box remember to allow room for the MOC to move and or not get damaged if the sides of the box is compressed.

I hope that helps.😀

Figure arrived safe and sound, but I have a new problem: It wont fit in the display case I ordered as well, perhaps because the cardboard has become distorted with age.

Why won't it fit?

Do you mean the card is warped and won't fit in the slot at the top?
The card will fit in the slot with a bit of wiggling, but when it is in, the base of the card sticks out by about 2 millimetres, making it impossible for the bottom piece to be fitted in place. I have contacted the seller over this matter.

The case seller. It was sold and made by Display Armour, so they should know if it's a defect or not.
It sounds like you have a Made in Taiwan card which are about 3mm longer than regular Kenner cards - not sure who display armour are but sounds like they have not factored this in to their cases - I would stick with GW Acrylic cases - the original cases out there not some random copycat !
