Vintage Prices....

Hi all,

Happy New Year.

This is an appeal for help from UK vintage collectors. I'm looking to amass as much information as I can regarding retailers and prices from back in the day.

If anyone like Jason has any toys in their collection which feature old price stickers (other than last 17 Ã'£1.59) I'd love to hear from you.

I'm trying to find the original retail price of many items, plus also retailers. It would also be handy to know the cardback too.

This does not just apply to Palitoy items, it applies to anything that had a UK price sticker on it (Kenner imports for example).

So to give an idea;

Luke Bespin - Kenner 45 back - Gamleys - Ã'£1.29
MTV-7 - Palitoy Empire - Lewis Meeson - Ã'£1.49

I'm looking for both figures and vehicles, so if any of you have anything like that within your collection, please post here of drop me a mail at [email protected] 8)

The wholesale prices were around 87p plus 15% VAT, but it's things like cardboard Death Star's wholesaled at Ã'£6.00 odd that make me chuckle.

The only thing I can 100 percent remember is one time at patricks toys in north end road fulham were selling off figures for 50p each
reason I remember it was as they had tons upon tons of dengar and ree yees and I made my nan go in to get me dengar as at the time i was too shamed up to go into a shop to spend just 50p lol...teenagers

I'm sure that our local hardware shop was selling 12 and 20 backs at 99p each in 1978/9.
Just think of all those Lukes and Large Head Hans :roll:

Here's a couple

Han Solo Hoth Palitoy 45 back - Ã'£1.50 (the sticker doesn't say the shop)

Han Hoth 47 back Ã'£1.55 from Odyssey 7

I had a Tri-Logo Rancor with a Tesco's sticker, but the price was crossed out. It looked like it said Ã'£9.99 but it could have been Ã'£6.99 or even Ã'£3.99

yeah even back then it still seems cheap

i am 99% sure asda used to sell them for Ã'£1.25

that would be for mainly tri logos as these are all i remember as a kid

I remember getting Tri-logo Luke Stormy, Han Carbonite and Wicket all for 50p each from a discount store in Birmingham.

got a Royal guard (shocked??) with a pink and white price sticker. Ã'£1.45 with "Toys Toys Toys" on it. not sure if that a shop name or just the toy department

My afa ewok village has a price sticker on it The toy store $25.99 reduced down to $9.99

I got most of my original figures from Zodiac toys in the Whitgift (?) Centre in Croydon, I think they were Ã'£1.59.
My later Jedi figures were posted over from Singapore by my uncle who was working out there at the time, they must have come out a bit before they did here as none of my friends had seen ROTJ yet or any of the toys, they thought i was making it up when I said they were SW figures...
