Vintage Luke Stormtrooper figure

Hi guys
I recently posted for some advice as I'm trying to buy my SW fan husband a surprise 40th birthday present . Everyone was so kind and helpful but I've since found out I was on the wrong track . After a lot of digging I now know that his dream present would be an original figure of Luke dressed as a Stormtrooper complete with gun and helmet . I have seen a few of these in various conditions on eBay ranging from approx £30 to £90 . Could anyone advise how much I should be paying for this figure and also if there is anywhere recommended for me to purchase from ?

Cant advise on the price but someone will be along soon to help I'm sure. Are you looking for a loose one or one on the card?

If you are going for loose, especially on ebay, be very very very careful. These figures had unique accessories. The helmet is exclusive to that figure, as is the black version of the blaster (standing by to possibly be corrected ) The problem is these were the first bits to get lost, and if you are getting it for him for a special birthday you want it all to be original, right?

Reproduction helmets and blasters a rife on ebay. There is an article over on another website "the imperial gunnery" that will help you identify the real deal from the rubbish. It can be quite a challenge to not get stung with repro on ebay these days I'm afraid. There are kosher sellers on there, but there are also a lot of people trying to pass off junk.

My best advice to you is to decide wether you want a carded or loose example, and then put a post in the wanted thread here. If you buy from a collector of reputation, you will be safe knowing you are getting the genuine article. Forums like this are generally the safest place to buy, and often the fairest prices too.

Great advice, ebay is rife with reproduction.

As stated there are trusted sellers on this forum, who will provide the genuine article with genuine accessories at a fair price.

I'm sure you will you will receive plenty of good advice from members on this forum.

How glad am I that I stumbled across this site - you guys are amazing !!
I'm guessing that a carded original will be out of my price range but I think I will steer clear of Ebay and post in the wanted thread on here as advised. Ebay is indeed a minefield as I'm actually quite scared as (you can tell) that I don't really have a clue what I am talking about !!
Hopefully someone here will take pity on me and help me to win 'wife of the year' !!
