I just stumbled across this auction sale from 2020 for these Clarks Star Wars shoes. I certainly can't remember seeing these shoes for sale anywhere back then. I also found a brochure for a whole range of Star Wars shoes plus related Youtube video. I love the artwork on the box.

It's amazinig that such things still surface - a boxed, unused pair of Star Wars shoes of all things. Would love to know the story behind these - who kept these for so long untouched and why? Included here for future reference. The auction described these as 'Darth Vader' themed shoes, size 5 1/2.

I imagine a lot of these went unsold, hence they still surface today unworn and still boxed. I don't remember these at the time, either in the shops or being worn by friends or other kids. I was 6 in 1978 so I was in a position to know ha ha. I quite like the artwork on the box but the shoes are hideous. I'm fairly sure the Sansweet book from years ago showed some of these including some exclusive Clarks display trees and diaramas, I bet they are really rare

Agreed, superb artwork- so evocative of licensed products from that early time period. Love 'em. But not the shoes haha!!

I was 8 in 1978 and like you @Dad of Luke, me and my SW obsessed friends would have been feverishly talking about these new Clarks kicks in the playground if any of us were aware…!

Brilliant post @SimpleSi, just when you reach an age and you think you've seen and know of everything vintage that was released in the very early days, something like this pops up and that sense of wonder is reignited once again. Superb.

Good roll call @Cazza of classic footwear from the 70s… Monkey Boots, a real blast from the past!!

Cheers,
Martin

Slightly off topic @SimpleSi so forgive me, but very much related to footwear and the inspiration of Star Wars…

I've just taken delivery of a pair of custom Nike trainers, I didn't realise at the time when I was building them on the app, bringing all the colours and elements together; that I was clearly channeling the Boba Fett colourway!!

It only dawned on me when I received the package a couple of weeks later and opened the box. I do love that Clarks shoe box and the artwork… but I'd rather wear these (subconsciously) inspired bounty hunter Air Huaraches than those god-awful bowling shoes 😂

Just watched the YouTube video, a cracking tour of the Clarks shoebox, and the original tag that came with. Amazing to see the retail carrier bags from that period, too.

I still can't get over the fact that these didn't pop up on my SW obsession radar back in the 70s.

I love posts like these, a real gem @SimpleSi !

Yes, @TC-14 I couldn't agree more!

I was an eager 10 year old searching for anything I could get my hands on. That included my neighbours empty cardboard box from his Death Star set😅. Shame I didn't keep it 🤔.

I would not mind wearing a pair of those funky Vader sneakers if they made them in my size😄
