I discovered an easier way to digitalise my first edition Star Wars VHS trilogy films and thought I'd share it for others who might might be interested.
I found that the latest software Open Broadcaster Software (OBS) which is a free download, worked well with my cheap video capture card and laptop running Windows 11. I was able to record the signal directly so not having to go via a TV, as I previously had to. All you need is an old VCR and video capture card. The video captue cards are plentiful on Amazon and eBay but usually over-priced and the software which comes with them is useless. If you can get a capture card cheaply then you're good to go. I'm not certain but I think OBS will work just as well with most if not all the cheap video capture cards.
