Definitely the retail version. The rental version was released by Twentieth Century Fox Video and the retail version by CBS / Fox Video.

I really enjoyed putting a collection of VHS videos together. It was at a time when I was saving for a house so had to reign in my collecting budget. Collecting videos is nice and cheap but still a challenge to complete the full UK VHS set of the OT and spin-offs. The Ewoks and Droids videos can be a challenge to find in a good, clean condition.

I didn't just want good boxes, I also wanted clean, mould and static-free videos as I plan to digitise every version. Yes I know it's been done by others (hasn't everything!) but I'm a perfectionist and I want my own versions done by me :)

I found this website invaluable - http://www.swonvideo.com/. There was another website but I can't find it anymore.

Below are some pics from my collection. I'm still missing some videos. As is the case with all my collection I've never managed to complete one area!

The vids I still need are the 2 earlier Making of Star Wars videos (Magnetic Video version from 1979 and the first CBS/Fox version from 1982). I also need the Droids Dairylea video and a version different box versions of the 2 Ewoks films.

I've included some pics of the vids I do have below. The film versions are show in chronological release order.

Is that SPFX empire making of video worth much . Had mine years but hard to find info on it (or I'm not looking in right places ha

I paid the most of all the vids for that one as it doesn't come along very often. I'd say that the 2 earlier Making of Star Wars vids will fetch a bit more than it but it's definitely rare. For these vids it's gloves off for me so I paid £30 for mine. Of course somebody'll come along and say they got one for a fiver :D

Yeah the plastic cover is a bit stained yellow but the video plays fine for its age . Thanks for the reply just never seen it that often , once at a memorabilia show and the dude wanted £40-50 for it but I was intrigued on the price range .

Thats a great collection of VHS sets there jedi_mister - great to see them all together. Superb photo

Thanks stratpack. It's a nice little focus, easily affordable for a lot of collectors and the box artwork makes it very displayable. I do love the Executor box set. At the time it was the only way to see all the trailers and to see SPFX - The Empire Strikes Back which was not re-released when the the other Making Of videos were.

Great display! The mid-90s widevision ROTJ reissue is my favourite cover, and I remember being so tempted when the Executor boxed set was released - too bloody expensive for a poor student at the time though.

Yes it's an impressive sight, I think I have three different box sets in the loft that cost me a fortune back in the day
