The actual achieved prices don't back that up but I reckon that some of this lot will go abit cheaper as there are more faults mentioned in the descriptions - creases, scuffing, bubble dings etc. whereas the early auctions were all Mint/Near Mint.
When you look at ebay sales from stuff that obviously came from the first auctions everything was pretty much straight AFA 85s, whereas some of these don't look like they'd get that now (which is good because it opens things up for more people to buy). I think the continuing lack of Ben/Leia/Chewie/Jawa etc, and moreso Power Droid, R5, DSD mean that they're becoming rarer (although none are rare) than some of the others now, and the old Palitoy order of what was rare and what wasn't has probably changed a bit.

No doubt my strategy of buying a few small items I really want will go completely to **** within minutes and I'll end up with 15 Ewok villages or something equally as large and ridiculous!!! I shouldn't be allowed near auctions, I get too excited. I do like to watch (and discuss after) how much stuff goes for though.

Now it gets posted on Facebook and forums, so this will undoubtedly attract higher numbers. With 10s of 1000s of "collectors" now, it's almost impossible to keep quiet.

You can still get bargains regardless of the discussions. Was it not at Vectis' peak that someone here picked up a 30 back Luke Bespin for less than £800? Seen the same thing (in worse condition) sell for thousands since then. And Vectis hasn't gone unnoticed since the £18k Boba Fett. You're only hope is that on the day some of your competition can't make the sale for one reason or another and that happens in all auctions. And they can always commission bids, anyway.

I think the sheer volume of stuff being auctioned off on the day helps at times too, nobody can realistically bid on it all so they usually choose to focus on a handful of items instead. Sometimes people are so worried about one particular lot that they forget about the others too.
Compare that to ebay where you might watch say 10 items of interest per week..it's quite the marathon. I had it on the TV last time and it felt like time had stood still while I waited for the Trilogos to start but then once they came around the bidding for each lot was so quick and intense that it's easy to see how some items sell for less than you expect as people get caught up in the madness and blow their budget early or get confused working out which item they really want to try for.
