Vectis 30th April - Here we go again..!

As the shop didnt close down that many years ago, and although obviously they didnt have the star wars stuff on display anymore imagine going in there a few years back and asking if they had any star wars items and they said yes heres some in our wharehouse and brought up a few sealed boxes, you would have fainted.

Indeed you would but apparently the lady in charge didn't really volunteer stuff up very easily, and even had she wanted to, probably couldn't find stuff easily. It was piled to the ceiling in the back of the store.

I think someone said on another thread that if you asked for something there was a chance she'd find it but a bigger chance that she wouldn't.

It's amazing to think there was a place like that somewhere so close to many of us, chockablock full of goodies after all these years.

Hate it or love it vectis has brought some wonderful finds to auction 2014 / 2015.. (with more to come)

In a good few years I can imagine saying things like "do you remember those vectis auctions with the sealed boxes of toy's nobody thought was out there anymore".

Something that is certainly exciting to be around even if the prices are stupidly crazy....

[/quote="JFK"]Why would items command a more higher sale price at vectis than let's say ebay ?
For right or wrong there are definitely some big spenders who seem more comfortable dealing with Vectis rather than ebay. We all know and have dealt with knobheads on ebay so maybe the premium is to deal with Vectis, but know what you're paying for/that it will be shipped properly/that it's legit/that you won't get scammed etc.

Most of us would think twice about spending big on ebay with a seller you don't know or trust, but I suspect we'd all spend that money with Vectis because it's going to be a transaction that goes well (despite the added cost).

There are celebs and rich people who collect Star Wars. It's difficult to see them wading through ebay listings like we all do, but they'd probably be very happy reading an auction catalogue and then buying from them. It's a shame for us "normal" collectors, but money rules.

I checked the box of Xwings today as I was interested at one point. Two of them were definitely a little squashed in one corner each and a corner of the box also looked a little compressed so I reckon only 3 of the 6 would be mint.

Some serious prices!

But then I bought one MOC for more than that, so it's not like I'm in a position to comment!!

I am totally out of all this though as I didn't even know there was another auction. :?

So, when's the next one?

I read

But I pretty much forget most things.

So,

What's all this Star Wars stuff that everyone keeps going on about? :?

Vectis auction lot wins arrived today. Very nicely packaged again. Just working through the boxes now.
So far I've opened a very nice Han Hoth Palitoy 65D with a perfect clear bubble.
Second figure was a Kenner Gam Guard which hasn't faired as well. It has a slight wave to the card and a yellowing bubble but the bubble is undented. I'll give it a good home and look after it to the best of my ability!

It's a bit like Christmas really but I'm trying not to rush and enjoy the excitement of not knowing which figure's coming next and how it will look!

Anyway back to the unpacking - 8 more to go!

Have opened 2 more figures. A 65C Ree Yees and and Kenner 65 back C-3PO Removable Limbs. Very nice cards and bubbles. On the Ree Yees card the ROTJ logo has a noticeable red tinted square that stands out. Don't know if this is down to fading of some sort ? Also the back of Ree Yees' head has damaged the backing card in a couple of places leaving white marks. I'll get some pics up on the fading to show the effect. It's still a nicer example than my current Ree Yees but that's a 65A/B card so I may keep both and start a focus!

6 to go but I'm going to save those for tomorrow night!
