Can anyone give me some pointers to identifyig a real vc jawa? It would be great if you could list the details here or give me a link to help I'm ready to take the plunge but I need some pointers!
Is the cross hatching only on one side?
Does the weapon only come without a bump?
Thanks, Ed

Good luck man. The VC Jawa is a tricky one, but with the right information, not so much.

The cape should have the cross-hatch pattern on one side and smooth on the other. The arm holes should fit the figure's arms snuggly and not loose. Also be careful about the thickness of the cape as most repro's are thicker.

The VC jawa came with both the bumpless and bump gun, but most collectors prefer the bumpless.

Also, the eyes on the jawa are the larger eyes and not the smaller eyes that were released later.

You could always sent a pic to someone who could help you if you find one you're interested in. Or you could go the AFA route and pay a lot more.

Personally, I paid a shitload for mine and it's not graded, but it's extra minty.

Tight fit cape

6mm sit up from the feet (not touching the floor)

tight arm holes

crosshatch pattern on the inside or outside same as on ben kenobis cape

colour should be almost same as jawa figure

fairly thin and manouverable

I can't stand that "cross-hatching" ****. It's found on ALL capes and is not exclusive to the VC Jawa. If anything it can help determin wether or not it is legit. Grab any cape and inspect it for it's consistancy and texture, you will then know what a VC Jawa should act & feel like minus the color...

Thank you... :D

Thanks guys, I will try and post some pictures this afternoon.
The cape appears to be on backwards- the cross hatching is on the outside?? The cape does look great.... It hangs just right on the jawa. Waiting for a written description and some detailed pictures of the cape.
What's a fair price to pay for a near mint c9 original example, loose and ungraded with a bumped blaster?

Item number: 200538910683 wrong figure, not 100% sure on cape but if it is real 150 pounds is a bargain. 200 pounds is a fair price IMO. Bryan - some snowtrooper capes can have no cross hatching?? & some Vader capes maybe?

You're right about the Snowtrooper, not sure about Vader but I meant in general, the vast majority of capes are textured on one side, smooth on the other. "Variations" don't count.

Here are the photos I have. The date stamp matches the details I have found, It looks pretty good to me.

But the cross hatching is a point for someone to look for in a genuine cape? surely its worth mentioning as fake capes cant emulate this feature unless its a swap.

Andy

Jeepers, I didnt. Is that common on these mate? Does ive it have a big impact on the value? Do you think it is genuine mate?

The cape looks good to me mate

i think its genuine

defo not c9 though

and price would be drastcally reduced for a tear probably by half.

Thats interesting. I am really tempted to go for it, the tear puts me off as its still a lot of money. The guy wants a decision and im really not sure :?:

Wow, really? I was thinking this was a £250 figure.... I suppose the cape damage knocks the value down a lot then!!! I think I narrowly avoided being ripped off. Thanks guys. Im still looking for a geniune VC Jawa if anyone has one for sale or knows of one for sale from a reputable source. I was thinking AFA graded was the only way to go on these, but with the knowledge thats on here I dont think it is needed!!!
