Saw someone mention this along with a DT Lukes as being very rare. This is mine. I didn't think anything of the white background until a thread popped up last year about an 85 grade up on eBay for a silly BIN. I have no intention of selling mine, but curious to know if anyone knows about these. Someone said it was just a Takara missing a sticker, but there are Takaras with yellow backgrounds, and the AFA has added "white background", so I'm guessing it's official enough.

It's a beauty mate. To my eyes it looks much better than the yellow background, obviously a factory fault and very rare.
No idea on price but has to be more than the yellow back version.

Yeah definitely right about the yellow background. Doesn't look anywhere near as good as white.

Most likely a lot more than my graded Y-Wing on eBay at the moment  lovely piece, but sadly 12-BKs are not my strong point, let alone a rare one like this.

Got a picture of the back of the card. The yellow background 'Takara' is just a standard US Kenner with a sticker. The white ( & red?) is true Takara Japanese and there will be no CoO near the POP.

Very nice, their was a thread a while back which might help. Most likely the sticker has been removed at some point. Here's the link.

Yeah much prefer the look of this to the yellow background, nice MOC 8)

........... and more adulation but sorry no valuation

Bought this and my Han Clipper 20 years ago. That's the only reason I have them. No way could do it now.

I'm a bit confused. When this thread came up last year you took part in the conversation. It is pretty much a given that these are Takara cards that have had the Takara sticker removed back when foreign cards were unpopular. As discussed in the other thread, there were three different Takara cardbacks with stickers - two versions with a yellow background and one with this white background. The white background figure is the Japanese COO figure and the cardback is exactly the same as the one with the sticker. There is no COO listed under the POP and it would not be hard to remove the yellow sticker.

Have I missed your question?

Personally, I would value these well below one that still has the Takara sticker attached.

So mystery solved, nice one I thought it was a factory fault. Still a great item.

Cheers. I think at the time it still wasn't clear, as there were Takaras with both white and yellow backgrounds, and no one said "right, well that settles it" or something along those lines". If it is like you say, then AFA have messed up again? As there is a population report for these white background Vaders. I believe there were about 9.
