Hi everyone. I'm new here so I apologise if I have missed some etiquette (I did read the stickies first!). I have bought my brother an unopened Chewbacca 12-back figure from eBay. I'm happy that I've managed to get hold of a pretty good figure, however, there is a catch: Right at the bottom right corner of the card (Google Drive image), there is square of the card missing, having been cut out.

What I wanna know is whether this is gonna have a massive impact on its value as, from what I understand, the cards can be just as valuable, if not more so, than the figure itself. Hopefully I haven't thrown my money away here and you can give me some reassurance.

Thanks

It would be worth you posting some pictures, but to me it sounds like the proof of purchase has been cut off... Price all depends on the condition.

Nice to see this on here. I was bidding on this item but it went past my budget in the end. Did it go for about £150 in the end? Or maybe that was what I went up to, I can't remember now.

I'd be interested on what the carded experts on here thought of it?

The missing corner obviously hurts the value going forward, but it all depends on how much you bought it for in the first place as to whether your brother can make money on it if he comes to sell it.

There is a picture there. Click on the hyperlink.

I have posted it here (I think)

What did you pay for it. The value will be quite affected by this damage but 12 backs are at a premium at the moment so it will have some value. I will wait for some better qualified members to chime in as I don't know what the market value of this will be at the moment.

I would have to say it's worth between £100 and £150 going on the hammer price on this one.

I think it might be the same one and someone has flipped it for BIN. £220 is a bit high if that's what you paid for it IMO.

However although the POP has been completely cut off and this is a pretty major flaw by anyones standards, can't see a lot wrong anywhere else. Your brother is a lucky man to get a 12 back Chewbacca for his birthday.

Ah, right. Thanks, guys. I figured that the card value would take a bit with that part missing... Fortunately though, in his case, he hasn't paid anything for it as it's a gift. It's good to hear that it's still worth something - even if it is less than it could have been. The figure itself and the rest of the card is in great condition so hopefully that helps down the line. Neither of us are serous collectors but he's a huge fan and he'll appreciate being the owner of something special!

Thanks for all your help and advice guys, I can see how this stuff can get addictive...
