Anyone recognise the signature or the origins of the paper it's on?

I have no recollection of getting this signature, but could well have been an older brother of mine. At 1st I thought it was just a print, but now doubt it as it seems the ink has gone through to the other side.

I have no doubt it's vintage as it has been in my parents attic for at least 25 - 30 years and as you can see has become a victim of mice up there.

It's got Palitoy on it making it worth at least a £500 in today's market.

What exactly was the Darth Vader tour. Would there have been a bloke dressed as Vader signing autographs?

I seem to remember, although a very distant memory, being taken to woolworths with my old man to meet darth vader, and getting an autograph from the guy in the suit. Couldn't tell you if it was the same as this though.

Although it wasn't the real deal, I remember being over the moon with it at the time. I think I was 4 or 5.

Vadertour is mentioned in this thread

A bloke on TIG found this link to one so appears it is signed, albeit very loosely, D Vader. Appears myself, brother or both met Darth Vader at a shop, no doubt in Wigan. Neither of us have any recollection of the day. We both blame it on quaffing copious amounts of Merrydown as a teenager.

Did you notice the difference between your picture and the ebay one?

They were signed by the actor hired by Palitoy for store visits from around 81 onwards. The Boba Fett's were mostly signed by Phillip who was in Marketing. They had to hire an actor as no employee was big enough.
The signatures can be found on blank, headed and Palitoy toy posters :)
Hope that helps,
Dave

Man, I'd hate to be giving out the wrong facts :)

The cards were available as promotional assets that could be ordered from 20th Century Fox and used for whatever purpose, I think I placed some images of what could be ordered on one of the Farthest From Facebook albums, if folk DO love this sort of nostalgia, you need to follow the page, there is already a lot there I've not shared before .... not that anyone cares ;)

I remember my Mum taking me to the local John Menzies back in the early 80's to meet Vader. He had two Stormtroopers with him. I was 7 or 8. He was a giant compared to me. I mind being really scared at the time. I remember putting my hand out to shake his had once he gave me *his* autograph. I put the wrong hand out and he kind of just grasped my hand and shook my arm. It was awkward LOL. I always wondered if it was the real Vader...

No, but have now after comparing the two. The copyright at the bottom is in a different place. Well spotted.

It's worth £750 now as it's now a rare variant.

What about the Darth Vader image being reversed?
