Hi fellas, hoping someone can help me I've finally got my set of budget to average 12 backs (ok not quite, Leia and Ben are 20 backs), some are already graded some are not, I want to get them all graded, but 2 of them have the POPs removed leaving a hole and one has had the POP carefully removed leaving the cardboard intact, the question is will UKG grade them? Even if it's a **** grade it's authenticate them and give me a graded set.
Last question, my Han has a touch of frosting around his head, how do I clear this up again? Does the sun trick work here in the UK or is it just hotter places? Can I place him on my windowsill or does it have to be outside? Thanks for any help in advance.

I have never had anything graded myself as I personally see it as a complete waste of time and money, however plenty of others disagree with me, and I can report that I have this very day seen a graded figure for sale on eBay which had the POP cut out (they gave the card a 50), so if they were happy to grade that, I don't see why they wouldn't grade yours. You are asking them to take your money in exchange for their (dubious and worthless, IMHO) opinion and a perspex prison after all, so I don't see why they would refuse your business!

As for the frosting, I remember reading a thread on this forum not so long ago where someone claimed success by CAREFULLY using a table lamp fitted with an old tungsten filament light bulb. The idea being that the heat from the bulb removes the frosting (I assume it either melts or sublimates it). However, I cannot stress enough that if you do try this method, you should be damned careful that you don't melt, warp or otherwise damage the blister through the heat of the bulb. These days we're all increasingly used to energy efficient light bulbs which radiate very little heat, however your average tungsten filament bulb is easily capable of damaging a plastic blister if allowed to touch it or get too close to it, so watch it like a hawk if you do attempt this method.

Personally, I am against exposing cardbacks to direct sunlight on account of how it fades them. True, I doubt a few hours exposure would have a noticeable effect, but it's more the principle of the thing. I never expose any vintage to UV light if I can help it.

Hope this helps :)

UK sun and desk lamps are both fine for frosting. 30 mins should do it (on a sunny day)

Thanks for the help guys, you've answered my questions perfectly, much appreciated! :D

U wouldn't have to worry about the sun as we would b talking minuets not hours :!: I once had a MOC Han with frosty legs and a 4LOM with a frosty head. Put them both out in the morn sun out of their star cases and in a matter of 5-10mins both were clean!

Regarding POP removed yeh we would prob b talking an overall 50-60 grade.
