Hi all, I just wanted some opinions on what people in the UK are mostly collecting when it comes to vintage star wars, what are you into right now? are there many people in the same field, obviously loose collectors are always apparent as they are the most cost effective way of starting to collect but what do you see as being hot and not? Personally I see Palitoy talked about alot on the boards but dont hear much on other foreign carded, bootlegs, prototypes, POTF coins, are people out there searching for these? are many of you collecting MIB playsets/vehicles etc are prices holding out for these? Anyone into 12 inch, I know Lee is but are there people collecting these.

I know many hold what they collect to their chest but it might be a good talking point.

our lass is in to 12 inch

i,m starting a moc film relese collection and filling my moc loose collection on way

I have collected many things but have not held onto them for long for a number of reasons. Boxed vehicles and playsets took up too much space, Kenner 12 and 20 backs were ok but didn't do it for me in terms of nostalgia, I've had proofs, some proto's, POTF etc but again they didn't really keep my interest like I thought they might so Palitoys it had to be. The cost of the figures is frightening but I'm so glad I made the move to collecting them as I can't stop looking at them 8)

I guess the specific childhood memories are more what motivates me rather than being an out-and-out collector.

other than a loose collection and a Han Hoth focus (including bootlegs and proofs), I collect boxed palitoy vehicles and 12" figures.

Recently the prices for boxed and 12" have dropped a fair bit

i guess thats why i find no special appeal towards palitoy as i never even new who made the figs when i wwas a kid .its only from starting collecting a heard who made them

I collect the Palitoy 12/20 backs MOC. Trouble is finding the remaining figures so may start a focus, while i try and get the remaining MOC i need.

"Hi, my name is Joe and I am a Vintage Star Wars Collector....here is my story"

I have gone through several "trends" lol

First I bought everything I could find, boxed sets, vehicles, loose and cheap MOC. (bad mistake but I learnt!)

After I got some good deals on some nice looking MOC's I decided I would upgrade all my loose to complete loose collection as mint as I could and I developed a small MOC collecting goal.
I had been fortunate enough to get some great deals on the ewoks and droids line from America so I had this little collection going of really nice condition MOC's all Kenner released, then one day I spotted a Canadian carded King Gorneesh and bought him, so that was the next task, collect a complete set of Canadian carded ewoks.(Completed :D)

When I sold 70% of my collection, the vehicles, playsets and MOC's all went, my spare and double loose figures went and everything else except my almost complete loose set, I did actually try to sell this once, and I was looking for £1000 for it and it only reached £700 so I gave in and kept them, which is something I am glad I did!

The latest refocus had me thinking of a character focus and 8D8 was my choice of figure due to him being one of the first figures I had when I was a kid and I had always called him "whiteskinnydroid" before I knew his character name!

Now also money is a factor, being married and having bills to pay is a different situation to spending every penny of your income on toys like I did when I started collecting.

So luckily, 8d8 is perfect for me, it's another small focus that I will finish in time, but more importantly I can budget myself and pick up pieces relatively cheaply!
I am happy right now, I don't think I will ever change direction again, instead of stopping when I complete the production releases of this character I can take the time to accumulate funds for the pre production stuff that is out of reach right now.

I've lost count of the number of focuses I've had since I started collecting !!

Variants, 12 back MOC's, AFA 90 loose figures, bootlegs, Kubricks and various quirky modern Japanese items have come and gone in the last 4 years !!

Now I've decided to get some Sideshow 12" figures !! 8)

I research and collect international 12" figures, I have about 23 boxed ones now.
I also collect Palitoy 12, 20, 30, 41 and 45a backs MOC, Palitoy paperwork, bootlegs, palitoy vehicles and playsets, and diecast.

If I was to start a focus today, it would be a loose Rebel (Hoth) Trooper one, the're pretty ambiguous figures and an army of variants of them would look cool, slightly different shades of outfit and face colouring....

30 backs = 1
41 backs = 1
45a = 1

Sorry if I am being dense but he said "what" not "how many" ?
Or do those numbers relate to the characters lol

Again trying not to step on toes ;)

Not really into going into which ones I have, but they are what I have far I have got in terms of numbers..
