U Grade mass destruction?

Wow im out of it for a little while.....

You guys know im no fan of U grade stuff, but I have no doubt after seeing his collection thread on RS that Jeff really does love his toys. I have seen hundreds of collections over the years and this is one of the best displayed. You just don`t spend all the time it took to bespoke that display for something that you are just in for the money.

Seriously check it out http://forum.rebelscum.com/t986657/ there even some pics of him on there. He seems like just a normal dude, with friends and family that collects toys. Also looking through his posts on there, he just types in caps, its not him shouting.

Maybe im getting old or need my tampon changing or the fact its monday morning, but its better to try and talk this through.

In all honesty,i think most of you are acting way OTT here.There are certain individuals who are commenting here,that havent been around as long and seen AFA from day one.They collect SW for a year or two and think they know it all,and have a duty to publicly berate and belittle people-whilst throwing some nice name calling into the mix,****ING GROW UP.If you want to slag Jeff off,ask him for his number and say it to him down the phone,and at least listen to his side of the story.Honestly,there are worse things going on in this world,and you are all getting so heated about plastic bubbles.I will admit,i was probably the biggest arsehole that walked this earth with regards to AFA a few years back,but i learnt that they were not going anywhere.They are a business like everyone else.I would also hazard a guess and say that if AFA didnt surface,and UKgraders got in there first then the UK graders would have taken off massively in this country.I have seen people here and on RS posting pictures and aquisitions of recently purchased UK graders items,and the response isnt half as bad.Please do not think for one minute that i am a grading fan,because i can assure you i am not.However,one mans hatred can be another mans passion,and you just have to learn to live with it. Even if i could afford graded i wouldnt because its just not my scene,but i will not longer slate anyone that does and it has been well and truly beaten to death now.

FWIW,Jeffs collection is amazing and if any of you guys saw the time and effort he put into his collection room/collection in general then you would realise he has a love for SW as we all dk,he might have more disposable income and more power to him,its his choice to spend his income how he wants to.It doesnt mean that the SW collection world is impossible for everyone.There isnt any patience in collection anymore,its not a sprint-but a marathon.Just take your time,and you will get the collection you want and are happy with.With regards to Robbie,i will say that he is the finest person i have ever encountered in my years of SW collecting-and im not an ass kisser or whatever you call it.He is a very good friend of mine,and to put it frankly you guys dont know him at all.

Seriously,i have AFA but have learned to live with it.Its about time some of you guys thought the same.If you are worried about 50 carded figures getting ripped open,whilst there are people getting murdered in wars,people starving and people living in poverty then its a sad world we live in.Some of you talk of it as some sort of Armageddon-wake up!!

Just be happy with what you have and can aquire and enjoy YOUR collecting.Dont worry about whatever everyone else has.

This thread is a ****ing mess. Without the "wider world" context I'm sure we all agree that u grading has a negative effect on the hobby. Yes there is bad things going on in the world but what the hell has that got to do with this discussion? Terrible things happen every day- but this isn't a current affairs forum- the clue is in the name......

It's a circular argument-
There are two camps:
1) those that like U grades
2) those that don't.

No matter what people write, 99% of number 1s will still collect u grades. I hate U grades but really I am fed up with arguing about it.

This thread really should just be locked and forgotten- all it is succeeding in is accelerating people falling out with each other.

Im not suggesting nothing of a sort really.It just seems to me that the ettiquette are comraderie has long gone.There used to be a time when you could have a debate and not be called a ****,arsehole or whatever-but this doesnt happen anymore.Ive just seen too much new blood come into the game thinking they have some sort of god given right to own whatever they wish,and get the arsehole when they cannot.It isnt just about AFA,its about collection in general,too many people are too worried about what everyone else has/does and that is a huge concern.It happens in action figures,props,prototypes-everything and it wont go away as the area itself has become swamped with too many people who will not listen.

As Ryan says - does the length of time you have been collecting have an effect on the value of your opinion ?

I think this is the main point of the argument - for those of us that do want to collect MOCs then there will be a lot less available if people continue to crack them open - so it does effect us all

You talk about camaraderie- I would say there is infinitely more on here than RS...... I suggest you are the uninformed one here dude- this forums foundations are based on helping each other out.
I suggest you spend an hour or so reading some of the old threads through if you think camaraderie is dead.

I would definitely consider myself one of the new guard and take great offence at the suggestion that there is no camaraderie on here - I have met and spoken with 15-20 of the people on this board and don't have a bad word to say about any of them - there are some great personalities on here and from what I have seen everyone has been very helpful and accommodating to other members of the board

I fully agree we should be able to discuss subjects like these without resorting to name calling, once that happens the debate goes out the window.

I can't see one time any of the so called new blood claimed they had any right to own whatever they like ( whatever that means? ).

There's an natural cycle when it comes to collecting/forums and such, there will always be an older more informed group of collectors who for the most part are very knowledgeable and helpful people but as a "new blood" collector how are we ever going to have informed opinions if we are not included in are allowed to have a discussion about subjects like U Grade.

Sorry fella's but just because you've heard it all before and your sick of it, doesn't mean it shouldn't be said again for the benefit of newer collectors.

He came on here all defensive and typing all caps stating we where being hateful towards him. In all reality we were having a "U" grade discussion. I keep hearing how big of a collection he has and that with that said, that it must somehow garner huge respect from us....that is just plain bullshit. H e was ranting....and ranting...and ranting...his statement of the source of the cardbacks change from 80% not his....to well they all had cracked bubbles...so I got them "U" graded. I am not a newbie....nor do I feel I should look up to anyone. The new guys on here were well behaved....and yes I called him a **** after he decided to get all mental. I really could give a ratsass how many figures he busts from bubbles, because as you say, this business will go on as long as there is a market. He is just another one of the few who come on here and expect a bow down from us.
