Hi

Remember years back when you could virtually stick a coat hanger in the back of a TV and it would pick up a signal, well what do people do these days?

We have a new TV in one of our bedrooms but the room has no aerial socket. Has anyone used some sort of plug in antenna to get a signal. We do have one but for some reason it doesn't pick up any channels.

What to do?

It has built in Freeview. Does that make a difference?

I've heard there are antennas that you can buy which receive the signal for digital TV's

Ah got you now. You want to connect a portable aerial to your freeview enabled TV?
Yes you can get them, they're from £10 up but I must admit the one my mate tried from ASDA we just couldn't get it to work. Took it back no problems.
You need a digital TV aerial

We got a very compact cheap one and it hasn't picked up anything. Maybe just needs a different type.

That is what I want it for by the way.

Do you have Sky tv?

If so there's this option

Alternatively, buy one of these

And some coaxial cable and run it yourself up the wall outside

Or there are TV senders, that send the tv signal to another tv in the house, there are cheap ones but I would imagine you pay for what you get

Thanks for the suggestions chaps.

We don't have sky and i'm a bit loath to run cables round the house. Not sure what to do here.

What are those? There used to be a thing where you could send out the signal from one TV to the rest of the house. That's already been mentioned, but is that the thing you mean.

With those if you turn over the TV channel in the living room, for example, will it change the channel in the bedroom. I could have fun with that

Thanks for that. Please let me know if you come up with anything

This looks like the thing we have http://www.amazon.co.uk/product-reviews/B0051YCQ8E/ref=cm_cr_dp_hist_one?ie=UTF8&filterBy=addOneStar&showViewpoints=0

There are a lot of very good reviews but I would agree more with the one star reviews. We get no channels from it at all
