Heard the day we caught the train on the radio the other day and it got me listening to a few OCS songs again, great band and still going!

Yeah Ocean Colour Scene had some great tunes. If they were around now making that kind of music they'd be the biggest band around. Wrong time for them tho as they were dwarfed by the likes of Oasis, Blur and Radiohead.

OCS are one of my favorite bands. I can't remember a bad song they made. There best is 'robin hood' I think
Smash is indeed a quality album

You might well be right Pete, top band.

Yeah they did Poncho! Saw them at Wembley in 1999 supporting Aerosmith (with the Stereophonics, Black Crowes and Lenny Kravitz) and they were great. Such a shame they didn't make it, even when they reformed around 2004/5. Their drummer died in 2006 I think. Gutted. Would reccomend anyone to check out Beautiful Day by them - we had it as our last dance song at our wedding :D

OCS were a great band! 8)

Personal favourite is Siamese Dream by the Smashing Pumpkins, still the greatest album ever made IMO, nothing has even come close in nearly 20 years. From start to finish absolutely amazing.

This song popped into my head today, pure 80's cheese but a brilliant song none the less (I went for the video from the movie as well, just for nostalgia's sake).

pumpkins were ace too. so many briiliant tunes/bands coming out here.

Yeah sorry about that. I never liked them since I unfortunately saw them when they came out in 90, their first single Sway still is awful, awful 'Baggy' bandwagon sound, then turned into a dreary muso Dad band, IMO

Early Happy Mondays , brilliant shambolic band, the earlier stuff is far superior than the later dancier stuff

Also Wedding Present are still such a good band and the George Best album is def worth checking out

Been rebuying a lot of this stuff on vinyl again. On my third copy of Check your Head and second copy of Pauls Boutique

After slagging OCS though I am now awaiting my slagging :D :D

Nice ide for a thread :D

As i'm reading this The best of the average white band is spinding :D . White UK guys can make pure soul .
Even Beastie boys and EPMD sampled from them . Great stuff

Not heard that Wedding Present track before. Sounds like U.K Subs, Early Jam, Motorhead, Sex Pistols and The Starnglers all going round in a tumble dryer. A little raucous for my tastes. Rough, scrappy punk has never really been my kind of thing tho i do dabble.

Average White Band are cool. I have been known to play a track or 2 by them when i'm DJing. Usually 'Pick Up the Pieces'. Which everyone knows but doesn't know they know.

Sticking out like a sore thumb, I have Future Sound Of London currently playing whilst working

FSOL I remember having that Papa New Guineau track on vinyl good track

I saw the Stone Roses at Heaton Park this weekend just gone. Was brilliant, loved them for 20 years and never thought I'd get to see them live. To put it in perspective I used to have every single they ever released and even knew the serial numbers off by heart...

Kudos to the Wedding Present fan too, they along with the Fall are two of the most underated bands you'll find.

5 Classic albums..err The Stone Roses, The Clash, Pixies (Doolittle), Smiths (queen is dead), Stones (Exlie on Mainstreet). That list would change daily though.
