So

Been thinking, on first 12 figures released were the early first 12 all green translucent bllasters to start with ?

Han small head, Leia chewie, DSC,

Which others?

When did translucent stop being produced ?

Great question Mike

Sadly I can't help you with that .

I have an translucent green imperial blaster :)

I certainly remember having the translucent blasters with my childhood figures and I've got translucent ones for my loose collection of all of the ones you've mentioned above with the Jawa and Stormtrooper included ( although I'm not 100% sure about Chewie as his weapon is a tricky one to tell as the blue /black one can also look a bit green).

I know there's some debate about these translucent weapons as there are a lot of moc 12 backs out there with blue/black blasters but I really do remember my original set all having a green look look to them. I also have a sealed 12 back Leia Palitoy cut card that has a green/black translucent blaster taped to the inside of the bubble.

I've no idea when they stopped producing them but I'll always think of this colour of blaster as the first issue……that may not be true but it is for me :D

Cheers

Read around it a little and apparently due to insufficient amount of dye being added to the plastic during the injection moulding process, so maybe early learning curve in production process, and Q C 'd after that point.

Thanks for the help :)

It's a myth. Chewbacca- early bird baggies have been found with bowcasters with both flat & round trigger guards. Green is never round. Now the bowcaster can be green-green, never seen a true green Imperial blaster, jawa blaster, rebel blaster or Leia pistol- only ever translucent blue green at best. Never seen an early bird baggie Leia or 12 back Leia MOC with non blue/black pistol. Nor have I seen a Stormtrooper MOC with anything other than blue/black ( occasional blue ) The translucent blue/green Leia pistol is ESB mainly.

Have to say that I am not convinced that they came with any particular figure - I have picked lots up over the years in childhood collections and not all have been with first 12 figures

Sometimes I think the 'myth' often outweighs the facts - see 'Green Limbed Chewie' and 'Metallic haired Leia' (and topically grey limbed Stormtrooper!)

Yes James, that is a better explanation Translucent blue rather than green

I've always heard these blasters described as green/black and not green/blue so I guess it depends on who's write up you're reading from. To me these look to have a definite green look to them as opposed to the pure blue ones or more black/blue ones. I've never seen a pure green one as they always look black from a distance but can be a green ish hue on closer inspection.

It could well be something to do with the dye but these colour blasters did seem to not appear very much after the first wave of Star Wars figures. Like I mentioned earlier there's always been debate about these and I really think it's down to how the individual views them and what their opinion of the colour is. It's a lot easier to tell the difference between the light sabers than it is a weapon that at first just appears to be dark in colour.

I'm still sticking to my guns on this one though and calling these green/black (or maybe green/blue) in colour as that's how I remember them looking. I've also seen a fair amount of Leia, Han, Jawa , Stormtrooper/ DSC ones that are this colour including the sealed one I have but it could well be a mix of both black and blue that has caused this appearance.

For the record this is the colour I'm talking about which is V1 and referred as green/blue translucent -

Also V3 from this link which is green/black -
