Hey folks. Only just registered here, but i was pointed here by a member on the Sideshow Freaks forum.
I am registered on many forums in case anyone is worried about "dealing with the new guy", and my Ebay username is:
All_The_Good_Usernames_Are_Taken!
I am looking to sell a fairly rare piece i picked up about six years ago. It was removed from the box twice. Once to have a look at it when i bought it, and again to take the images posted here. Never displayed by me, and never messed about with the entire time i have owned it. Selling due to just taking up archery and i want to buy a bow.
It is an Episode I Era TOYS R US store-roof-display Vulture Droid. I'd guess it was in stores back in '99 back when TPM was released. No idea how long they stayed, but i bought it from a US seller in 2006
Item is in "good" condition. Not totally mint. A couple of mild scuffs but nothing serious. I can provide pics of the paint scuff marks on request. The item is painted with weathering in any case, and the little scuffs just look like part of that.
This piece is 31" long and 19" wide and comes with three metal eye-bolts to secure metal cables from when it was secured to the roof in the Toys R US store which it came from. In the pictures, the cables are all on the rear of the item(So they don't obscure it), but they can be attached on the front of the body so it can be hung from the ceiling.
Based on wikipedia specs, the craft is between 1/4.5 and 1/5 depending on what sizes you believe for a Vulture droid. I always think a smaller scale makes it look more impressive, so i have always liked to think it's closer to 1/6 for display purposes.
I have included a can of root beer and a Hot Toys Iron Man MKVI in the images just for scale. They are not included in the sale(Unless the offer is spectacular, lol).
Now, the only sale of one of these i can find recently is about a year ago on Ebay, and it went for $440/£272 including shipping.
I'd love to get close to that if i can, but i am entertaining offers for this one. I'm not only hoping to sell, i am hoping to be able to get this to a collector who will really look after it.
Any questions, please email me at [email protected]

I got mine for £30 off ebay.

£70 would be max for this buddy- they're not that rare.

Seriously??
Do you have the auction listing?
I could only find the one.
And i paid a fair bit more than £70 for it...

I got my 2 years ago. Trust me- shop displays is what i know.

They pop up quite frequently- the naboo fighter is a lot rarer. Those average £150.

For every Naboo fighter there is 3 droid fighters.

Good luck with sale.

Hi Bar,
As disappointing as it is, Maulster is the resident expert on this sort of stuff.
Maybe it's best to wait for a free listing weekend on Ebay and chance your arm with a high BIN but with a more realistic lower best offer figure.
Best of luck.

It's no problem. I have been searching and searching but i cannot find any evidence of them selling for "Hasbro" prices.
I'll sell it regardless. Price is not an issue.
I'll try and track down a mod to remove the thread.

No probs. Best of luck.
They'll lock it for you but tend to leave them online for future reference.

Increase your chances of selling by adding "star wars" and "shop" to the title.

Good luck mate

Fair play to someone for taking the time to introduce themselves properly before showing us what they have for sale.

No need to lock the thread, we tend to leave them open and just let them sink down the page.

Thanks.
I was flabbergasted to find that these things are ten a penny.
I have never seen another one for sale except the one i posted as an example above. The most recent Vulture droid costs more than £30 in stores, lol.
I can't imagine this one going for £30.
If it doesn't sell, i will very happily put it back in it's box!
:D

Its a great item and its huge- i dont understand why there is no love from modern/prequal collectors.

This forum is mostly vintage star wars 1977-1985. Maybe try a prequal forum. You might have more luck

Lol. It's totally cool if there's no love for it. I expect there will be eventually. I have had it six years. I have no qualms about keeping it for six more!
If it sells i will be happy, but if not, i will put it back in the box. As others have said, it makes an incredible display piece next to 1/6 Battle Droids.

It is a common modern display as Grant has already stated not much demand for that one. Now the modern Kenner Toys-r-us hanging Falcon display is another totally different matter.
