Here's my one, with the instructions courtesy of Lars. Many thanks again for selling me some
This is a great little toy, with a neat firing mechanism, and is exactly the kind of low cost accessory / small toy that really helped those of us on a budget back when these toys first came out. It wasn't all about the AT-AT's and Millennium Falcons of the line (terrific though those were). More humble toys like the Tri-Pod Laser Cannon not only gave kids a cool toy of something they'd seen on screen, it did so at a more affordable price point. Well done Kenner!
If you also have one of these neat toys in your collection, please share them with the forum!![]()
I'm not sure how many different boxes there are for this toy, as I only collect 1st Issue boxes. However, I hope lots of other forum members can share pictures of theirs, and hopefully we will see lots of different ones there.I do not even remember I have sold you the instruction, but I am happy that you remember it and that I could help you with one
Thanks for sharing this beauty of a laser cannon complete with box and inserts
I agree it is a great little toy at a low cost. Kenner did a great work
Any idea how many diffrent boxes that are out there of it ?![]()
No problem mate. I did not know you only collect 1st issue boxesI'm not sure how many different boxes there are for this toy, as I only collect 1st Issue boxes. However, I hope lots of other forum members can share pictures of theirs, and hopefully we will see lots of different ones there.

What an excellent mix of different Tri-Pod Laser Cannons! Tremendous stuff, Lars. Thanks for sharing your fantastic collection.Since we last did toy of the week years ago, I have sold 3 of my Tri-Pod Laser Cannon boxes, but I have also bought one box more for my collection.
1. my ESB Kenner box, it is a real beater box but I am keeping it for my dnaish focus, because there are a danish price sticker on the right of the box.

4. Another ROTJ kenner box, this are my new one since we last did toy of the week. It is a beater box, but it has a danish price sticker on it that I had never seen before. Seller had a few diffrent boxes with that sticker type, but I was to late with the other boxes so they were sold. So I only got this box with that sticker.

thanks for the kind wordsWhat an excellent mix of different Tri-Pod Laser Cannons! Tremendous stuff, Lars. Thanks for sharing your fantastic collection.
I really like the tri pod laser cannon, it's about the only mini rig I have much love for bar the VME which also got screen time, the others were never in the films & I just never really gelled with any of them, I actually have a modest mini focus for the TPLC & also have plans in place to make a little custom special offer version & include a hoth trooper baggie, I already have the sticker made for it & really thought kenner missed a big opportunity never making a special offer version back in the day.
I go for the 1st issue Palitoy packaging only in most cases, unless Kenner made their version first and there is no Palitoy equivalent (e.g. Star Wars boxed Millennium Falcon, ESB boxed Rebel Transport, ESB Rebel Commander boxed Wampa - although I also happen to have the Palitoy ESB Luke Hoth boxed issue as well in this particular case). I rarely go for multiple different Palitoy packaging of the same toy. The only example I can think of is that I have both the stickered and printed Palitoy logo solid belly tauntauns.thanks for the kind wordsWith your palitoy focus, are you not missing the bi-logo box in your collection since it is a euro box ? or do you only go after the palitoy logo ?

and I have always thought you have a palitoy focusI go for the 1st issue Palitoy packaging only in most cases, unless Kenner made their version first and there is no Palitoy equivalent (e.g. Star Wars boxed Millennium Falcon, ESB boxed Rebel Transport, ESB Rebel Commander boxed Wampa - although I also happen to have the Palitoy ESB Luke Hoth boxed issue as well in this particular case). My focus pretty much is Palitoy, but it's Palitoy 1st issue, unless Kenner got there first. Since Palitoy never made a box for the Tri-Pod Laser Cannon, I have bought the Kenner ESB one instead. Had Palitoy made one at the same time as Kenner, I would have the Palitoy one and not the Kennerand I have always thought you have a palitoy focusso it is a 1st issue focus you have
any idea why palitoy did not make a esb box for the TPLC ?
I think it is strange since they made so many other palitoy boxes

I have no idea why Palitoy didn't make their own box for the Tri-Pod Laser Cannon, Radar Laser Cannon or Vehicle Maintenance Energizer. Those 3 toys were available in the UK, but in their imported Kenner boxes rather than dedicated Palitoy ones. I can only guess it was either a production issue or simply a cost-saving one?
I really need to start posting again my friend, it's been way to long, I have been lurking / reading & doing updates to the guide, but do need to get active on the forum again, I will try & find some time to get some images taken of the few tri pod's I have, I have 3 including a sealed example as well as a separate power block in a baggie I keep meaning to get cased, for me it's the only real stand out mini rig, the VME & RLC also got screen time, but did not have the same impact as the TPLC IMO, it's quintessentially real vintage SW goodness IMO, all mine are in the loft display so I'll try to get them down for pictures as I can't take a decent picture up there due to the lighting.Great to see you write in the thread Frank, it has been a long time since I have seen you on the forum. Yes the VME are also cool, I also like the Radar Laser Cannon. Sounds like a cool project with that special offer sticker. Please share it when it is complete
I agree, kenner missed a big opportunity with not making a special offer version of the TPLC. Do you have any idea why they did not do that ? do you know if any collectors have been in contact with some of the guys from kenner who made the special offer boxes ?
I would love to see your TPLC collection if you have some in your fantastic collection![]()

Great to see you back again on the forum frank and I can't wait to see your pictures of your collection.
