God this really makes my damn blood boil. Again ive been told that im not a 'PROPER' Star Wars fan by some frigging twat just because im not interested in TFA. Jesus Christ, so by most numptys reckoning anyone who dislikes anything to do with this is not a proper fan. So if you dont like anything about the PT are you the same???

Bollocks!!!!

Don't let it get to you Lee, emotions are running high just now. :D

If you were there in-between 77 and 85 then that's more important than all the sequels/prequels they could ever release. If you were a fan back then you experienced the magic when it was new - it will never be the same as that time. I feel sorry for the folks that missed that time and came after, it was all new and exciting and every boy seemed to love SW. You were weird if you didn't. Now its just one of many other franchises on screen and in stores.

I'm looking forward to TFA but I can totally understand the reasons from the fans that aren't.

Couldn't have said it any better myself. Completely agree with this. Don't get me wrong, I'm looking forward to the new film but if I'm being honest I got a better feeling from watching the new Battlefront trailer than I did the TFA one, guess it all comes down to nostalgia :D

I got into heated arguments on both FB and RS over the same issue - and making the same point about the PT.

I don't care how bad the perception of the PT is - it is 100% hypocritical to slam someone as "not a fan" of SW for not wanting TFA, but in turn they trash the PT.

I've heard a few times how I'm not a fan also - and some special needs people have even referred to me as a "stupid kid" for my opinions on TFA. I can only laugh it off. Lee, we have done more for this hobby and been in it for far longer than some of the fanboys who are daft enough to slag us with those comments. Ignore them. :)

SW is a three generation spanning saga. My son loves the PT but doesn't care for the OT - although it's difficult for me to understand I do get it. There'll be those who love the new films and don't like the PT or OT. And of course there's the OT fans who despise/tolerate everything else.

I love all 6 films released to date. I'm sure I'll like the new films too, but we'll see I'll reserve judgment for now. Does that make me a bigger SW fan than someone who only likes the very first movie? No it doesn't. And I would never claim it to be so.

I love the 6 movies, most of TCW although some is crap, most of the computer games, most of the EU, haven't been gripped by the new timeline as much........... Am I a SW fan? Yes! More than others? Won't claim to be.

I get that some aren't interested in TFA. I also get that some see it as the biggest thing since Jedi. There are places for those posts though and the vintage chat is not it. Repeated post/threads shitting on TFA are getting tired. Equally there are too many pro TFA threads getting set up on an hourly basis.

To move forward I suggest we follow Ed's advice to the letter. Use search facilities to see if threads have already been started and use them appropriately. Vintage chat is about vintage SW chat - not TFA. Equally, if you don't care for TFA then avoid those threads - I agree it'd be a hell of a lot easier if it wasn't spread all over the subforums but I will say that if I didn't like a topic I wouldn't spend so much energy on it, it's negative and it's ultimately not healthy. I'd use that passion to post more in other sections I'm more passionate about.

Its a daft argument, i love star wars more than you, or you are not a proper fan, such a crap thing to say, we are all fans, don't let it get you down mate

What will be interesting is to see what happens to these 'real fans' if the new film turns out to be no good. As others have pointed out we have been here before with the PT.

You don't fool me Lee, I saw that you were browsing the new trailer thread at 3.45am today. I reckon you had your Kilo Ren mask on. Don't worry your secret is safe with me. :?

Hey Lee,

Sticks and stones Dude... If this is the case then perhaps lots of us are NOT true fans coz lots of us couldn't give a f--- about the new film. Let's face it... TFA is mostly for the next generation/new blood of fans... Much like the OT was for us. Much like the PT was for some of our kids generation. As it stands we're all already fans of the franchise in one way or another. Most of us have probably been fans of the franchise longer than most of the mouthy muppets have been alive.

I like boxing and motorcycles to name but a few sports but I don't like to watch every boxing match or think every motorcycle is cool does that make me any less of a fan of either sport or hobby ?. No f--King way.

For me, I wouldn't waste a second of my time arguing with those "so called true fans lol". Just my 2 pence worth Dude.

Regards

Add up the cost to you of responding to the people saying these things to you....time+ energy, if it adds up to more than 1 second, then it's wasted time you will never get back in your life :!: so ignore them and carry on regardless
