You have a point though, I wonder if it is these high profile parasites encouraging other people to give it a go?

I can see the appeal in making a fast buck and it almost certainly is seen as easy money. Not really my cup of tea though, don't get me wrong I'm not afraid to make a couple of quid on a sale but I like to think I break even/make a loss/outright give stuff away often enough that it balances out.

There are a few these days and people will seemingly buy anything from them at a steep price as if them selling it has added value/kudos. In most cases they are just a dealer or a group Admin, no more or less knowledge or important part of the community at large than anyone else. It's their peers fault in many ways though rather than their own fault that they have this elevated status.

Oddly, someone like NIGO or Rick Springfield, or even (noting another thread on here) Frank Sidebottom, probably do really hold a premium as they are in their own way a cult of celebrity.. but not just for being a known dealer!! :roll:

This goes right down through the bog standard UK FB groups where collectors who have literally been around 2 years get celebrity status simply cos they are admin.

I own items that came from the likes of Todd Chamberlain or Chris Fawcett (ie collectors that go right back to the Kenner dumpster diving days and imo do add kudos to an item). Celebrity dealers or admin on FB? No thanks.

Really? I don't give a monkey's who's owned an item before. A vintage Star Wars item is special because it's Star Wars not because it's been owned by someone who is famous because of Star Wars. That's just me though I guess and perhaps it's because I live under a rock when it comes to vintage Star Wars. :lol:

Yeah, see to me I'm not fussed about the actors who played the roles. But then again I've never had an ounce of interest in autographs either.

Just been on one of the modern sales groups (as I need a couple of Tri logo POTF2 red cards) and there were POTF 2 Tri-logo figures... £105 for 6! Seriously? The same guy has quite a few other overpriced figures as well... Seems it's not only vintage where the prices are crazy on FB

One guy earlier listed a vintage Yak for £60 !! Yes,, £60... of course it was snapped up straight away (although a more amicable deal was apparently later done), but many other people telling him that it's way too cheap.. to me... if the guy wanted to shift it at that price that's his perogative, where as people that over price stuff nothing can be said as the 'overlords that be admin' dont like price bashing...
