Apologies first of all for there being so many photos, but I thought it a good idea to give you a good look at what we have. This all started a few weeks ago when I posted some Vintage Action man pictures on FB Market Place. Unfortunately a Time Wasting Chancer asked me if I had any other vintage toys, which obviously we did have. We spent a couple of days taking photos, which we then showed him. He offered £4 per figure for all of the figures including the doubles! I offered him everything here for £1,600 if he picked it up. He then did not respond and has not communicated with us since.

Was I asking too much? I tried to price some things up using Ebay and then lowered the price but I would really like some one who knows what they are talking about to give us an estimated value for the whole lot if possible please. I do not want the collection cherry picked and will only sell the whole lot together. An ideal opportunity for a dealer to restock i suppose. They are for sale and ready to go but it must be self collection and cash only if some one wants them but I'm getting ahead of myself here.

Points to note, one of the Falcons has no table and both don't have the ball.
The blue TIE Interceptor has one of the wing connectors missing. The two Tawn Tawn don't have saddles. The squeaky animal is missing from one of the Jabba sets. The B Wing is for spares really as the cockpit is not original and the small wings are missing. One Snow speeder has a replacement canon. The Y-Wing has 4 out of the tail rods fitted as replacements. There is only 1 Speeder bike Flap. Not all the figures have weapons.

I think that is just about it.

Thanks in anticipation.
Ian

Not at all- I wrote a reply, but didn't press send! I definitely think £1600 is pretty toppy to sell as a bulk lot. Maybe if it was all sold individually, or in smaller lots. As a lot, I would say maybe the best you could hope for would be £1K. Most dealers would offer 1/3 of the full value, so even less.

Hey - that is a nice collection of toys, especially if they are from childhood, but to be honest, the condition isn't great.

As Cazza has said, £1600 is a bit on the punchy side, especially for a bulk buy. A lot of the vehicles are missing little bits, for example the Falcon Training Ball is arguably the most expensive element on that set these days (often going for £40 alone), which means anything that is missing bits, broken, has repro bits added etc. isn't going to attract a lot of attention, also do the electrics work? - that can be a big one, especially on something like the Y-Wing.

The figures look ok, but again, lots of missing accessories, sadly it looks like most of the Last 17 figures are all missing accessories which really dents their value, that said individually they are still probably the most valuable items there.

As a bulk, dealers are about your only option and they always look for a 3-1 return (if not more in some cases), as a lot I would have thought there is around £1000/£1200 there, so my guess is most dealers would only offer you a £300/£400ish, maybe a bit more, maybe not, for everything... To be honest £4 a figure for all the figures isn't the worst offer you could get ( I counted 126 figures, so £500 (rounded)), given the condition of the other vehicles as a lot I would say another £500 again + maybe £200 for the cases and other bits - but others might have a better view on valuations.

If you want to max your return, then smaller lots and individual sales are the only way to go - That will take a lot more time and effort though, a few things will go fast, others will hang about, all depends on who wants what at that moment, people will cherry pick...

You could try auction houses, Vectis and the like, but to be honest, the quality of the collection isn't super high and those folks take commission as well.

You could try selling directly at Conventions or Car Boot Sales - at least that way you can control the sales and quite a few vintage collectors still hunt around those places - stuff will sell, in real life is becoming quite popular again as people are getting fed up with internet sales which are now flooded with repro stuff.

You might find a shop that sells on your behalf (for a percentage - normally around %30) - that has the advantage of you doing no work on the selling front and shops have footfall, but stuff can sit on shelves there as well.

Internet listings (here, FaceBook etc.) are the only other option - but I doubt a bulk purchase will go there - Which really just leave Evilbay, You could try a BIN with a Make An Offer and see what happens.

If it were me, I'd research Evilbay for sold prices for each item individually and look at condition and price accordingly (Sold price, not asking for price) - it might be worth trying to complete some of the sets/figures and by spending money doing that, you could increase the overall value of the item and move them that way (which is what the dealers will be looking to do - to be fair they have likely already got stashes of spare parts to do that anyway), but that doesn't always work out cost effective, especially if you're after the 'rarest' elements, for example an original Cloud Car Pilot gun and binoculars will cost you at least £60 right now (insane price), but a recent sold complete figure on Evilbay only went for £77 (to be fair I think £77 for. CCP I nuts, way over the top - £50 max for me), but lose with no weapons, the figure is back down at only a few pounds - I would also spend time cleaning everything, the better the condition the better the price.

Sorry, thats all just an opinion, others might have different ones.

Wow, that's an impressive Star Wars collection!

Hi @Rickskid,

I'm out of the loop on current prices etc. but @monkey_roo has summed the position up well.
To maximise your return you will need to sell individually and by default that means more time and effort on your part.
Some stuff will sell in days, others will sit for months. Such is the way with markets (be it eBay, FB marketplace or the like).

He's already sold this as a lot in the for sale section, £1500
