Thought this was a thing of the past!

Today I've had the best day in a long time. I thought the days of finding vintage Star Wars toys in charity shops/boot fairs/jumble sales etc were a thing of the past.

But today I was working in Herne Bay in Kent before the shops opened and I noticed through the window of a charity shop what looked like a millennium falcon sticking out from a cardboard box under a rail of clothes. Excited I went about my work and returned to the shop at 9am when they opened, to my astonishment in the box wasn't one millennium falcon but two. One was basically just a shell but the second was in good nick only missing little items like the chess board and training ball. I took them both to the till and was only charged a £1 for both of them, couldn't believe my luck, I did donate an extra fiver as it was a charity shop but I'm still in shock at my find.

Has anyone else found any vintage Star Wars toys in recent years at any places like this?

Wow! I thought those days were long gone! I don't think I have ever found star wars toys in a charity shop. My town has 9 charity shops in it, and I have tomorrow free, so I know what I'm gonna be doing now, with my restored faith that a vintage star wars bargain can be found! :)

Great find :) ... although they now have policies of finding out the value of items, I guess like any other job its down to how thorough the person doing the task is, so there's always the chance of something slipping through the net.

It definitely does happen! I once saw a boxed AT-ST through the window of an Oxfam while it was closed. Sadly when I went back the next day it had already gone :(

That's a real shame, Edd. But, that's got to be a dream that most of us, if not all on this forum, secretly harbour... congratulations on a superb find. Keep those eagle-eyes peeled for future charity shop purchases, my friend!

Awesome mate :D

Been having a bad time on another forum and this thread turned my evening around and brought a smile back to my face. Like SWFUK always does.

It will probably make me trawl my local charity shops tomorrow too

Good hunting, pal- be lucky

One of the guys I work with does part time work in a charity shop so I asked (begged) him nicely to keep a look out - being a good guy he's spread the word out to all the local charity shops so with any luck, but he says in all the years he's been there he's only seen a pack of SW playing cards but hey you never know

Same here. My step dad works in one and he grabs me stuff now and then. Mostly books/comics

Good with the bad, although I had this great find yesterday and I'm still beami about it, late last night when I took the box with the two of them in out to my man cave (converted garage) I broke my toe, although in agony I still couldn't stop smiling which my wife thought was strange.
