Well, it's been 3 months since my last charity event so i'm at it again. :D
No prize draw competition this time as i don't want push my luck to over do it!

This weekend i'm taking part in TrailWalker 2015. A 100Km run/trek, yes 100Km!

This is gonna be Uber tough, it's 62 miles, cross country, extremely hilly, wet and partly in the dark!

I'm doing this one for Oxfam. Rather than badger everyone with just giving requests (there is so much charity mugging nowadays), my RAF colleagues and i have been tin rattling outside Tescos, Sainsbury's and at Reading City Centre over the last month, so we have individually collected a nice sum so far. I could always do with more though, after all i am running 100 Km!

Please check out my just giving page https://www.justgiving.com/gottobenuts

I'm leaving this afternoon (Friday) and won't be home until Sunday afternoon.
If any of you see anything for sale that you think i might want, please bear me in mind and maybe contact the seller :)

See you at Farthest From, i hope!!

Finally, don't think me soft if i have to pull out halfway through. I'm waiting on an ultra scan but my doctor is pretty convinced, as am i that i have Gall Stones and i'll have to have my Gall Bladder removed soon. I've got so much riding on this i don't want to quit before i even start. As long as i don't have another "pain episode" i'll be fine. When the pain comes it floors me for a while though. It feels like a bloody heart attack and is a bit scary

Good luck Jez!!!

I completed the Race To The Stones; another 100km event about a fortnight ago and it was one of the best running experiences of my life. I'm sure you will love it!

I will say you really need to approach these longer distances both with a different mindset and a serious view to looking after your feet. Stop at every pit-stop of note and check them and if you get a hotspot, deal with it... 35 miles in is too late to start thinking about them and you'll still have 30 miles to go on blisters if you don't take care...

Anyway feet aside, you'll have a blast, its an amazing thing to do and I'm sure you will want to do another within days of finishing... I know I do!

Fair play to you i like a challenge myself but that sounds brutal! Hope you make it and yes your feet is where the problems can start if you don't mind them and keep yourself hydrated, good luck.

Thanks lads, i was over the moon with the result.
The terrain was far far hillier than i thought. 10 x 10 Km legs, all of which were, climb apex 260m descend 270m etc. Ultimately we climbed a total of 2500 metres! Which was a bit of a killer whilst running.
We started at 10 am and finished at 2.49 am Sunday morning, so we ended up running about 5 hours in the dark which was a bit dodgy to say the least.
We were given 30 hours, the average Team completion was about 26, my team completed it in 16hrs 49, and our second team 18 hrs 30. I think there were about 454 teams, mine came 52nd.

It was a great adventure, my only issues were 5 blisters around my heals which formed during the last 20 miles. I ended up running on the balls of my feet like a velociraptor.
The best news was with tin rattling, corporate sponsorship and a few donations we raised just under £5K for charity; half for the Gurkha welfare trust, half for Oxfam. Oxfam did state that they would send all of the money to the Nepal earthquake fund, which i'm cool with.
I've decided that i want to do it again next year.
Heres a couple snaps, notice the T-Shirt change half way through. Lightweight during the day and a bit more thermal at night time.

A huge well done Jez. An amazing achievement and a fantastic time, smashed it!!!

Just donated as well buddy, not much but it all helps.
