I am in 2 minds as to sell seperately my whole collection as i want to change my car and the money would help or just keep my collection in storage till this credit crunch crap ends. I have full set of figures icluding variants, droids and ewoks cartoon series most are c9 condition which have come from the packet. I have loads of ships and vehicles many still in the original baggies in original boxes never played with, Also 30 or more carded figures 15 of them potf. just wonder wot u guys would do.

No other way to source your funds? sometimes life can take over collecting, and let's face it most of the things we own can be bought again if need be.

If the money you need is tied up in your collection then go for it, if you think you can manage without flogging it then store it away, sort out your car etc and then if you still wanna get rid of it you will have a nice bit of cash that doesn't leave your wallet as soon as it goes in it!

That's a lot of work, sticking it on Ebay or even on here/RS. Unless you flog it all to a dealer, in which case you will obviously get less money.

Your call though. The annoying thing is that the rarer/harder to find items are probably the ones that are worth most money!

..but if you do sell - any 8D8 items pm'd to me first

(don't shoot the vulture!)

my advice as i once sold my full vintage collection...is to keep your really choice and hard to find items and also items that you really love , once you sort them out you can part with the rest ! i wish i had of done this but alas i did not

this is a hobby to all of us and hey man you and your family need a car !

We all go through phases when we think of selling part of all of the collections. Some times though boredom other times through lack of funds. I just hope it you stick around even if you sell up.

Loan rates are low mate, so borrowing the money would be cheap, especially if you can borrow against the house via a mortgage.

Selling would take a lot of time and it would obviously be hard for you to do aswell from your collection point of view but its up to you to ultimately make the decision with your partner. But at this present time I would keep the toys and borrow the dosh as borrowing rates are low.

As others have said, i reckon the best way to start is to scale back first & see how you go. Sell anything you don't really need. Anything not displayed will probably not be missed too much either.

Good luck with it. I'll be interested in anything loose (especially variants).

I'll have any MOC Dengars that maybe going  !

Nah sriously mate think it through abit, maybe even just slim down and change direction ie. maybe start a focus!

I sold of 90% of my SW collection and it is the best thing I have ever done. Its alot less cluttered.
Plus I think less is more, You appreciate what you have got a little more.

Thats a good ethos Grant, its very easy to horde stuff, im impulse buying a lot, but i aim to have my favourites in two boxes and thats it.

I had over 20 huge plastic tubs worth of SW collection now I only have 2 myself and if I tried I could fit it all into one.

Sometimes less is more. Decide whats important to you and how much attachment some of these things really have. I look back with no regrets what so ever.

Hey Grant I never got to see your old collection, any chance of some pictures in the limelight section? Would have loved to see it all!

I had a cull about 9 months back i got rid of over 40 yellow bubbled MOC's plus some other stuff.

By scaling my collection back and just keeping / collecting only clear bubble MOC's i have finally got them on display and im enjoying them so much more.

Jay

Less can be more sometimes especially when it comes to displayability!

Joe believe it or not I never kept any old pictures what so ever. Im not a sentimental type guy who keeps old pictures. The only person who seen it in all its glory was Ron here on the boards. Ah the good old days..
