Evening Folks,

So completed a total run of the original 96 figures, plus Max Rebo Band, The Dianoga.

In addition Jabba and Crumb, Han in Carbonite Block, Probot. Plus Rancor Monster, lot of mini rig's.

No repo, all near perfect (considering hand painted), some MOC or in Mail away baggies. Plus some Stan Solo figures.

I built shelves to display, all in Acrylic cases.

However here is my issue.

I was a bit too young to remember the Boom years, although i still had a fair few figures but He-man was king when i grew up, Thundercats etc.

Yet i always maintained a keen interest in StarWars.

So i thought be nice to re-collect ones i had as a kid. Then i got a few more. Next thing i had 60+ and thought sod it lets go all in get total run.

I've had the whole run for say 2 years…can see them displayed when wfh, which is nice and it still amazes me the evolution of design, colours and just different styles of each figures.

However if i'm honest i think i enjoyed the hunt more than now having the set. A part from looking at them…not much i can do with them.

I'm seriously debating selling them & have for 6 months. Aware a whole run would sell for say maybe 6K (your the experts). Although money isn't the motivation.

I'll always know had a complete run and enjoyed them…but is it time to let them go to a new home.

Now before i finally decide…is this a common feeling with getting the full collection? Or would you never think to sell?

Any thoughts welcome 😊

If you were born in 1982, it seems to me you might be missing an emotional attachment. You'd of missed the hype surrounding the launch of the films and new toys.

Very collector specific your questions. For a lot of people, when they complete a challenge (like a full set of figures), they then turn their attention to another challenge like an MOC run, or go after some variant figures. The hunt seems to appeal to collectors more so than the acquisition for many.

Then some collectors are hoarders and never sell anything ever again, others liquidate in order to move on to the next thing. I don't think there is a wrong answer here. And if it's just a loose figure run, this is easily achievable again in the future if you decide selling was a mistake. Hope this helps!

The only caveat might be if some of these figures are from your own childhood collection. I would suggest holding onto those ones. You can't ever get those back and is often mentioned as a regret when they are sold.

I think everything comes down to why you collected in the first place and why you're thinking of selling.

There are so many different ways and reasons why people collect. There's no right way to be a collector (though there are a few wrong ways I've seen over the years)

I'd advise packing them all away, so they are completely out of sight. Then see if they are completely out of mind as well.

If you don't give them a second thought and don't miss being able to see them everyday then that might suggest having them is not that important to you.

A lot of collectors enjoy the collectING rather than the collectION.

That's fine BTW! The hunt is the thing. I say if that's the case - Sell up and find the next thing!

I alas am a horder but I need to slim down my own collection for lifestyle reasons. My loose collection is my childhood one - So I could never let that go.

The MOCs however, I think I easily could. Because as others have alluded to - It was an adult decision made by an adult.
