Whenever I bid on eBay items and loose out I am ALWAYS the second highest bidder :| (at least that's how it feels) :( who is this bastard who is always outbidding me

It's fate, you will get a better deal in the end ( just keep telling yourself that).

2 nd on ebay but 1st in life

I'm the same ( although not quite so much recently as I can't be bothered to wait until the final seconds to bid any more). It can't be me beating you but I know how you feel. I've also noticed that when I have been piped to the post it's normally someone who comes in right at the end with about 2000 purchases on their account, I'm guessing they don't like to loose.

The one other thing that keeps happening to me is that I win the lot but it's exactly the amount of my highest bid. Part of this is my fault for not putting on a bid right at the end but it's normally the person under me putting on bid after bid until they give up. Really annoying as I feel I could have won it at half the price by waiting to bid but I'm finding life's to short now a days to hang around the computer waiting for things to end.
One thing I did wonder though was if there's some sort of program that lets people know what the bidders highest bids are ( I'm doubting this and it would probably have to be something the seller would be in control of)? This situation has happened several times recently and I'm thinking it's either time to finish on ebay or just go back to waiting until the end of an auction for something I really want.

Of the joys of ebay

Horrible feeling getting done by the £1 more club (bastards ) :D :D :D

Yeah it's a bitch but just got to accept it, move on and keep getting beaten :|

It's quite annoying when you completely forget you're watching an item, only to find out that one person placed a winning bid of 99p for it

It is annoying but makes victory that bit more sweet when you do finally win.

I was bidding on a 12 back R2 about 10 years ago and typed in £1400 as highest bid by mistake, instead of £140. Won it for £245 in the end.
