Jedi Master
So today I went to afflecks palace in mancheseter, a few of you may know this place (michael sith does). Its a multi story building with loads of different stores in it, goth clothes, tattoo place, etc. The top floor has a shop that sells very over priced vintage video games and action figures, and they have a glass cabinet with a few shitty modern star wars figures in it. I noticed there was a mini rig in the cabinet priced at a fiver, one of the hoth radar cannons, and also a han trench coat which looked in nice condition for £8.
I went and asked the surly lad behind the counter if he could open the case up for me to have a look and he grunted and came with me, and stood watching me which made me feel a bit awkward. I picked up the mini rig and it fell apart, I've never owned a radar cannon, but I think the original feature it was meant to emulate it exploding. I didn't think it would just fall apart, and the guy gave me such a filthy look, and said "go careful". I picked up the pieces and put it back together, it wouldn't clip, so I think the spring mechanism was broken. He then said "anything else you want to look at, i'll pick it up so you don't break anything else" which really pissed me off. I asked to see the han trench coat which was in like a plastic clear sleeve with sellotape wrapped around it. I asked if I could open it, to see what marking it was, if it was raised bar etc, and also to see what he looked like from behind under the trench coat, as he looked minty from the front, and I wanted to see if he was as good from the back. The guy just said "no, you can't open it, theres a sticker on the back that says what it is". All it said was han trench coat ROTJ.
I told him to put it back and just walked off, feeling really miffed how much of nuisance the guy had made me feel, and promised myself I would never go to that shop again!
A few floors down I found another glass cabinet with about 25 star wars figures in, ranging from empire strikes back to return of the jedi figures, with a couple of modern POTF2 figures, all lacking accessories and looking battered, with a sign next to it. Star wars figure set, £90.
So the place is a complete pisstake, and I can't recommend enough for any star wars collectors to stay clear!
