Nice heads up Pete and I doubt he put the high bid in to see what it would go up to but it definately goes to show others what the second bidder's highest was, I think around £133 or something so like Pete said if you really want to pay that much then we now know what you've got to put down to beat it.
Guess Retrochrome can only blame himself for that one and hopefully shows Shane he can trust people on here.
Good luck with the auction dude!
Hadn't had any intentions of coming back to this but...
Just out of curiosity what exactly did i have myself to blame for? I'm slightly confused by the way you've referred to the highest bidder as 'he'? It was YOU making the bids and retracting them giving the old 'entered wrong amount' nonsense...
'Good luck with the auction dude!'...he was going to need it with that sort of behaviour, not really sure how you felt that was condusive in trying to get Shane a fair price for the piece or indeed of satisfying everyone else's curiousity by letting the auction runs it's course without any interference?
From the get go Shane wanted a fair price for this and came here to ask those that knew the market for an accurate valuation. Did he get that? Or did he get pm's from people who's angle was to try and buy the piece? I know he's had some guidance through those pm's, equally, where the Jawa specifically was concerned there may have been a few who were being slightly more economical with their valuations? Either way, it seemed the best way to determine the items value in this instance was to put it on a market place that would give everyone an oppurtunity to bid. Those that offered £30 by way of pm had every oppurtunity to put their valuations to the test and make a bid. That market place just so happened to be Ebay where the market determined it's worth to be £102. Simple.
Even to the very end Ham was offering me £50 to end the auction saying it was worth £50 to him, yet after i declined (saying in the interest of fairness we're going to let the auction run) entering maximums in excess of £135 saying 'actual value' and 'personal value' are two different things?? I'm slightly confused by that...AGAIN looks to me very much like he was trying to get me to end the auction and get it as cheap as possible, no?
Regardless, life move's on. So i haven't made any friends on here? Well maybe not amongst those that voiced their opinions but i'm quite sure there were an equal amount that read and understood my perspective.
