Was given a heads up on this thread (it's Mete). This guy is the biggest douche in the universe. Reminds of that south Park episode :) as for the pieces - I'm not a new fly by collector (been collecting boots for 8 years), and it seems most don't know how rare these are. Prior to this, to my knowledge only 2 carded yodas and 3-4 vaders. They're at the top of the food chain as far as bootlegs go. There are prolly 5 or 7 carded dt Ben's for each one of these - and given that these cost $5-8k each, and a carded dt ben is what $30- $40k in today's market?! So hopefully that puts it in peespective. Any serious bootleg collectors would go big on these pieces. Too bad the guy is such a dick.

Hi thanks basically the post was just up for around a few minutes. Username 'captainmorgan' had reposted lains post up with a message at the bottom. He claimed he was the Hungarian guy and if anyone had 40k just email him as he had plenty of stuff??? I think that's more or less what I read before it was deleted again. I presumed it was just someone having a bit of fun or something. I went to reply something along the lines that I wish I had 40k but then it disappeared.
So if this is this guy Mete is he Hungarian? I couldn't believe the email he sent to lain

Ha, what did he write to Iain? I can only imagine what came out of his mouth....likely bragging about gangbanging and pimpin' bitches all from comfort of his mom's basement :)

No the guy isn't hungarian, he lives on the west coast US. Just a lucky schmuck who saw the auction and scored on it...least deserving asshole who ever scored something. I don't think.he's a collector, just an Internet tough guy who got lucky and is trying squeeze every penny out of someone. Good news is the word is completely out on him and nobody will deal with him. I still have to do a watch out on RS.

Oh and his real name isn't Tim, it's Ted. And if you are reading Ted, hi! Keep hustlin' tough guy!

Gee it is sad to see such great items being held to ransom, just about, by guys like this. Its a real shame. Mete would have to be one of the nicest guys in the bootleg community and its even sadder that this happened to you buddy - esp when you were prepared to pay market value.

Hopefully Karma prevails...

Cheers
Pat

Did anyone notice this bumped to the top just now ? 'captainmorgan' it was your post you said you were the guy looking 40k. Did you take it down again? It seems to have not stayed up what you posted? If you were looking people to contact you by email it's not showing up!
I am not interested myself it's just others have also probably missed your post :)
Maybe you wer having a bit of fun? If so no worries :)

I approved his post at 8.29 last night. At 8.34 he deleted it. Tad bizarre but sure.

This was Mete's post

"Watch out - Tim Emmerson. I rarely do watch outs on failed transactions, but given the dollar amount and complete dickishness of this guy, I think it's important for oth
Be thankful for this, it means you still have a chance to acquire these items, albeit not at the original price/trade. I understand it may be in your best interest to walk away at this juncture..... perfectly fine by me.

It may also be a good idea to re-read my emails and try to understand with whom you are dealing. By now it has crossed your mind that I am not your run of the mill, self fellating toy collector. Although I Love these toys.....I have no problem destroying them in front of your face and then use them to massage my prostate......just to prove a point.

Choose your next words wisely....take your time, please. My price is *5k more* for the two I sent pics of. I will not budge on that figure and if I sense the slightest bit of condescension the price goes up.

Hey Man, look on the bright side. If you have the balls to come *visit* and do a smooth deal with me, I will spend some of the extra money on showing you a good time while you are here. If not, please don't bother replying. I have more pressing matters to attend to"

Is he selling the items or holding them hostage?

Thanks Pat - you're pretty rad yourself :) still miss that yellow card Vader I sent you btw :) he's not a collector but has held onto the lot for about a year now. After nicely chipping away at him for those 2 items, we finally agreed on something, only to have him flip out because I asked which 2 I would be getting. He now thinks the 2 are worth 20 or 25k...and he will be in for adl rude awakening when he realizes I'm one of very few people willing to pony up what I did for them. Ah well, hopefully another poorly worded ebay auction will come up sometime :)

I have a feeling that this story might get a little bit more interesting having seen a post in the Bootlegs group on FB

Really and truly never understood the bootleg market. Wouldn't pay a pound for any of them. They weren't in my childhood, so don't care.

There are some really cool bootlegs. Most are just oddities in the Star Wars toy universe and are simply fun items. However, I do not understand the value attached to them at all! But then again prices are generally out of my league.

Indeed......

Same here, just don't get the value wise with bootlegs, emperors new clothes come to mind with them

Its horses for courses - the wider scheme of things 99% of the public wouldnt look twice at a 12 back. Bootlegs are much rarer and often largely undocumented so it gives a lot of scope for collecting. They are niche - but given that niche there are people who will aggressively pursue them. For the most part its not my bag - with the exception of the 12" boots, but I definitely respect it as a legitimate aspect to the hobby.

I love the history of the bootlegs.

But I would prefer a 65 Kenner Klatty over a techno colour Polish generation 1 Princess Leia with microwave face.

So the update is:

1. Joe Y posted that he turned up to work one day and a package was on his desk, it contains one of each of the Vader and Yoda Hungarian bootleg MOC
2. Joe Y denies any deal to get them
3. Mete thinks Joe Y's pictures have the same background as the ones sent to him by Tim (psycho)
4. Is Tim Or Ted actually Joe Y? There is some history between Joe Y and Mete (I don't know details)

As Iain says this getting a twist.....

My feeling is that Ted and Joe were always the same person, or less likely, Ted actually exists and they colluded to set this up (less likely). How say you?!?!?! Let's look at some facts:

1. Nobody would gift 15k worth of star wars to a stranger, even out of spite

2. The 'seller' never even bothered to tell me of this gifting. You'd think if you made a 15k mistake like that to spite someone, you'd let them know in an attempt to get a rise

3. How does a complete stranger have Joes mailing address?

4. The bravado and aggressive verbiage in the emails sent to me scream Joe - violence, guns, arrogance, delusions of grandeur. It's the way he always talks. In reality he's just a sweet little ***** cat and everyone knows it :)

5. The seller cancelled our deal and turned on me for no rationale reason whatsoever, suggesting this was planned all from the beginning

6. Joe has become pretty irrelevant in the hobby and this was a perfect attempt to be important (hence all the tractor beam blah blah stuff only he cares about). He's worried people don't think he has an awesome collection, which is silly because it's by and far the best, but he still had an inferiority complex about and needs to puff his chest from time to time to stay relevant.

7. Lastly and probably the most damming evidence and people in his "inner circle" (I use quotations because the send the info to me) alluding to all the above

This is the one and last reply I'm gonna make. Someone will alert Joe to this thread and he will try and draw me back in. Ain't gonna happen, I know better than to go down to his level it's happened too many times before and I've always regretted it. But i had to get these things documented before he comes in and twists everything. If in the very off chance some idiot did gift these to him - then actually that would make me the most happy. These never deserved to be in the hands of "Ted", and are much better in a good big bootleg collection (plus it solidifies that Ted is a complete dummy). But again, I wouldn't buy this scenario for a second.

Thanks guys and my SINCERE apologies for dumping this drama in your forum.
