THE GREAT ANAKIN MAILER MYSTERY??

Well I have searched long & hard for a very long time, spoken to a great many folks into single figure mailers both here in the UK & In Australia & we so far have all drawn a total blank on the mysterious Anakin mailer, a great many examples of the mailer have turned up both open & sealed, all examples have been plain white overstock boxes, not a single confirmed example of one with any sending / address info on it, not that that's uncommon with palitoy mailers but as far as I am aware there is not one scrap of info on the offer/promotion of this figure in either the UK or in Oz, no card back/front stickers, no comic ad's no flyers or any info on line, palitoy mailers are a bit of an odyssey at the best of times, with very little being known about many of the actual items as they simply never turn up for sale, but at least there is info on the offers, which is more than I can say for the Anakin, am I missing something or is it a simple case of the Anakin being intended for a future promotion which never ended up happening with the toy line bombing?? I know a great many of these came directly from palitoy as dead stock/overstock but were they intended for a UK promotion or an Australian one? as they have the palitoy-a baggie which was used by both companies, so no hint there - thoughts?

I know the sticker offer was seen on Kenner cards, and we did get Kenner cards here in the UK. So it's possible that offer ended up here too. They just needed to add the Coalville address on the back as they had in the past.

Agreed **** figure, but mystery all the same, who in their right ind would pay a huge chunk for this on the POTF card or a madine on tri logo for that matter, maybe rare, but still just as **** IMO :lol:

If some kid sent off for the Emperor late in the day maybe Anakin was posted back.

Gut feeling is that there is an Anakin poster offer like the Emperor one out there somewhere but if so surely that must be known about - all very odd

Doubt it as there are a good few overstock emperors out there Andy, good thought though, keep it coming guys.

I live in Australia and I clearly remember buying paploo and lunat at the shops yet I don't remember if it was the American 79c or the Canadian offer less card , I think it was the American but I'm not sure , two weeks later my friend showed me anakin and he told me it's a new figure that was sent to him . Sorry guys but that's all I know .

I certainly never saw anything about an Anakin offer in the UK back in't day.

I certainly remember sending off for Nein Numb and the Emporer back in the day, but cannot remember Annakin. By the time of POTF I had kind of grown out of Star Wars figures anyway.

The Anakin mailer I have has a postal address on the box. I bought it at the NEC back in September last year. I would post a photo but it is still at UKG after me sending it to them at the begining of Febuary, getting fed up waiting for it to come back despite being promised it last week! Anyway I will post photo of it when it finally does come back if that is what you are after.

Was it a sealed example? & has it got a toltoys or palitoy address label?, any history on it & can I trouble you for the exact box dimensions in MM's please to double check it's the correct box as I have never seen an addressed anakin, could be a missing link

Sorry Frank that I can't help, I do not think we had mailer and baggies in Denmark, never heard about it in Denmark. We had some boxes and cardbacks with some strange pink codes on them.

Could they have packed the mail box in a envelope when they mailed it to people ?

We mail spare parts in small boxes at my job that has the same size as the anakin box in an envelope to protect it better, just an idea :?
