The forum is silent

1 last thing whilst I have it in my mind, the "like" feature which has been added on here like it is on FB, I personally think it's a bad thing as folks think hitting the like is interacting & I feel it stops many posts (even if only a that's cool etc) from happening & is part of the general laziness of social media & instant gratification vibe, that could be scrapped I'd say - don't shoot me, just airing my musings

That is true while on the other hand it does get repetitive seeing a bunch of "nice" "good job" "that's amazing" etc. kind of posts. When people are extra amazed at the topic they usually end up posting.

I joined this place on a prop/costume related search and started with the prop section. Then I found out it's primarily vintage toy collecting, not only that it's also primarily oversees while I'm an American. The name of the forum does not convey that. I assumed it was a catch all official forum. In my honest opinion that hinders the forum. I particularly don't care for toys even though they seem to be the main focus when it comes to collecting anything Star Wars. I prefer the very thing the actors held or wore on set of the films because that's what I grew up watching. I wanted to be immersed into the Star Wars galaxy. Be the very thing I loved watching and interact with others through cosplay as these characters with the props and costumes they use. That's my idea of expressing my fandom to Star Wars.

I sometimes post in the Prop section but I still can't help but feel a little out of place because the focus is on vintage toys. I feel expanding the forum would help it dramatically and possibly help attract more people.

Right now it is very limited in my opinion.

@vadersome really good points. Not really thought about it in that way before, but think you're definitely onto something. The big question is how much do we value the current forum identity? Are we prepared to change it up a bit? I think it's always had a unique selling point, but in recent times, that's not really been enough...
