I was born in '77, so Star Wars really hit my radar when I was 4 or 5 and watched it on TV (and a million times afterwards on some strange Philips VCR my Dad thought was the future but failed faster than Betamax). Like most of us I was mad for the figures, and like many I lost/swapped/traded them over the years (but kept my boxed vehicles for some reason).
I got into collecting when I was 16 or 17, starting at boot sales and progressing from there. And now I'm here - lots of rarities and moc figures, but no sign of the figures which started it all. Until now....
My dad retired to Northern Scotland last year and I got round to visiting him in March. On the last day he said 'oh Ive got some of your star wars toys here'. Pretty unexcited I assumed they were from my brief foray into POTF2, but in the depths of his shed, in an old tin box were these:
A pretty decent selection of my figures I had forgotten about - all from when I was a kid (not the ones in the case unfortunately). I remember getting Vader on Christmas Day and immediately losing the saber. Han Hoth was my first ever figure - given to me when to keep me amused at my Grand Parents house one weekend. I remember waiting patiently for Nein Nunb, Admiral Akbar and The Emperor and I clearly remember being bought Klaatu at Toymaster in Peterborough and finding the beaten up Tusken Raider in a sandpit (better than cat poo!)!
So these some of the figures which started it all.
And some pics of the actual figures, with me and my sister playing with them - 80s haircut and PJs unashamedly included...

But there were also these:
I think these came from car boot sales and jumble sales/fetes when I was gathering more figures - probably half collecting and half playing. I dont have photos of these and cant remember getting them.
Then as a young collector I was given these, which I'd forgotten about. I think my Dad picked them up at a car boot sale, knowing I collected them - still probably 25 years ago now.
I also got some space lego!
So the figures which started the madness are back with me - I'm pretty chuffed to get them back. Better still, I've got some beaters to pass on to my kids too, and a MOC Palitoy Logray. Plus I got to build space lego again
